UAE and Germany reaffirm strategic partnership
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Johann Wadephul, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, in Berlin on 10 September 2026 to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple fields.
The ministers described the forthcoming state visit by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Germany as an important milestone in relations between the two countries. They characterised the visit as a key step towards consolidating the strategic partnership and expanding opportunities for shared growth and prosperity.
Discussion focused in particular on broadening economic and development ties. Both sides reviewed measures to advance cooperation that supports sustainable development and economic prosperity for their peoples. The meeting emphasised the intention to build on existing achievements and to deepen collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed reaffirmed the strength and resilience of UAE‑German relations and underlined the mutual commitment to consolidate a constructive and fruitful strategic partnership. The ministers explored avenues to expand the horizons of cooperation, with particular reference to economic and development sectors.
Beyond bilateral matters, the two ministers exchanged views on regional and international developments. They discussed ways to strengthen international efforts to lay the foundations for lasting peace and stability, resolve crises through diplomatic means and safeguard international peace and security.
The meeting was attended by Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, UAE Minister of State. The presence of senior officials underlined the diplomatic focus on ensuring continuity and momentum ahead of the President’s state visit, with a shared emphasis on deepening ties that have developed across political, economic and security dimensions.
