Abu Dhabi launches comprehensive home safety initiative for new residential communities

The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority and Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre have unveiled the My Home is Safe programme, providing families with essential training and guidance to foster a culture of prevention and domestic preparedness within their residences.
The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre, has introduced the My Home is Safe initiative, a comprehensive programme designed to establish home safety as an integral element of daily family life. The launch coincides with the handover of residential units to beneficiaries of the Al Mizn Neighbourhood project and the Al Samha Housing Project.
The initiative reflects a deliberate commitment to embedding prevention and civil protection practices within residential communities from the outset. By encouraging families to adopt safe practices within their domestic environments, the programme seeks to reduce domestic accidents, enhance community preparedness and elevate quality of life across Abu Dhabi.
Comprehensive Training and Support
The My Home is Safe programme provides an integrated training and guidance framework delivered at new home handover centres, targeting parents, children and domestic workers alike. Participants engage in theoretical and practical training sessions that equip them with essential knowledge and skills in domestic accident prevention and emergency response.
The training curriculum encompasses several practical domains, including basic firefighting techniques, first aid procedures, kitchen and electrical fire response, correct fire extinguisher and smoke detector usage, and home evacuation planning. The programme additionally promotes child safety practices within the residential setting.
Upon completion, participants receive accredited certificates alongside first aid kits. Homes are furthermore equipped with fire extinguishers, establishing lasting safety infrastructure and ensuring families possess the knowledge and resources necessary from the day they receive their residences.
Building Safer Communities
Brigadier Mohsen Saeed Al Mansoori, Director of the Emergency and Public Safety Sector at the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, emphasised that the initiative represents a proactive approach to establishing prevention as an everyday practice commencing within the home. The programme strengthens families’ awareness of their capacity to anticipate and respond effectively to potential risks.
Saif Al Balushi, Director of the Real Estate Allocation Department at the Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre, noted that enabling housing stability extends beyond providing accommodation to creating an integrated environment that ensures security, peace of mind and sustainability for Emirati families. The My Home is Safe initiative reinforces this vision by raising awareness of safe practices whilst supporting the protection of lives and property, in accordance with Abu Dhabi’s broader vision of building a safer society with enhanced quality of life.
