The nineteenth graduating cohort celebrates academic achievement and prepares to shape the knowledge-driven economy that will define the UAE's next chapter
Four days of celebration at Abu Dhabi University’s campus brought together nearly 1,900 graduates, their families and faculty in recognition of a milestone that signals both completion and commencement. The Class of 2026 represents 1,891 students from across six colleges, each stepping forward into professional life having completed their academic preparation at an institution that has shaped generations of Emirati talent since 2003.
The cohort itself tells a story of the Emirates’ commitment to developing its own people. Of the graduating class, 57.8 per cent were women and 44.9 per cent were Emirati nationals, a composition that reflects Abu Dhabi University’s dedication to nurturing local expertise across disciplines. More than four hundred students, precisely 777, achieved academic distinction, evidence of the rigorous standards maintained throughout their programmes.
Professor Ghassan Aouad, Chancellor of the University, framed the significance of the moment not as an ending but as the true beginning of influence. “Graduation marks an important milestone in a student’s academic journey, but it also signals the beginning of new opportunities and responsibilities,” he noted. He emphasised that in an era defined by technological acceleration and shifting professional landscapes, the value of education rests not merely in what graduates know today, but in their capacity to learn continuously, respond to change and convert knowledge into meaningful contribution to society and industry.
Abu Dhabi University has graduated 33,000 students since its establishment, many of whom have shaped industries and communities across the Emirates and beyond. The institution currently delivers more than sixty five programmes across diverse fields, each designed to equip students with the knowledge and adaptive capability necessary to thrive in a knowledge-driven economy. As the UAE continues to advance its strategic ambitions, particularly as evidenced by the expansion of higher education opportunities across the emirates, the contribution of such institutions becomes increasingly vital to national development.
The graduation celebrations arrive as the University prepares significant expansion of its academic reach. Beginning in Autumn 2027, Abu Dhabi University will introduce undergraduate programmes at its Dubai Campus, extending access to its academic portfolio and supporting talent development in both emerging and established professional fields throughout the UAE. This growth reflects the institution’s responsiveness to evolving workforce needs and student aspirations, ensuring that its programmes remain aligned with the rapidly changing demands of the regional and global economy.
