Ajman Bank Reports Strong Nine-Month Performance as Crown Prince Chairs Board Meeting

H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi oversaw discussions of the lender's resilient financial trajectory, marked by double-digit revenue growth and strengthened capital reserves

The financial architecture of Ajman continues to strengthen as H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ajman Bank, convened the institution’s board to review a period of sustained momentum through the first nine months of 2026.

The Bank’s performance reflects disciplined execution across its portfolio. Total revenue climbed to AED 1.35 billion, representing growth of 12 per cent from the corresponding period in 2025, whilst net revenue reached AED 670 million, an increase of 2 per cent year-on-year. Operating profit before impairment settled at AED 340 million, with net profit before tax standing at AED 352 million.

In addressing the board, the Crown Prince emphasised the institution’s role in Ajman’s broader economic narrative. “Ajman Bank’s performance reflects the strength of its strategic direction and its commitment to supporting the economic development of Ajman and the wider UAE,” he observed, noting the Bank’s adherence to Shari’ah principles and its orientation towards sustainable growth and responsible banking.

The Bank’s balance sheet has expanded considerably. Total assets reached AED 35.8 billion, up 9 per cent, whilst customer financing rose to AED 24.1 billion, representing growth of 13 per cent. This expansion speaks to continued demand across the financing portfolio and the Bank’s capacity to serve diverse borrowing needs. Total deposits climbed to AED 28.4 billion, underpinning the institution’s funding resilience.

Capital reserves have strengthened markedly. Total shareholder equity increased 27 per cent to AED 4.4 billion, whilst the total capital ratio rose by 308 basis points to 17.1 per cent, reflecting enhanced regulatory positioning. In July 2026, Ajman Bank completed a USD 300 million issuance of Additional Tier 1 Perpetual Non-Call 5.5-Year Sukuk, its inaugural such capital instrument, signalling investor confidence in the Bank’s trajectory.

Asset quality has improved across the portfolio. The Non-Performing Financing ratio declined to 5.0 per cent, representing an improvement of 203 basis points year to date. Return on Assets stood at 1.3 per cent whilst Return on Equity reached 11.0 per cent, reflecting the institution’s focus on financial discipline.

Mustafa Al Khalfawi, Chief Executive Officer of Ajman Bank, highlighted the execution of strategic priorities supported by investment in automation and digitalisation. “Our performance in the first nine months of the year demonstrates the continued execution of our strategy, supported by record quarterly revenue, growth in customer financing and further improvement in asset quality,” he noted, adding that the Bank remains committed to enhancing customer experience and delivering sustainable value.

The trajectory reflects Ajman’s broader commitment to financial innovation and economic strengthening, a focus reinforced through recent engagements with key financial infrastructure bodies and continued advancement of the emirate’s digital transformation agenda.

What it means for Abu Dhabi

Ajman Bank’s resilient performance contributes to the broader strength of the UAE’s financial sector. As one of the nation’s significant regional lenders, the Bank’s growth in customer financing, deposit base and capital reserves reflects sustained confidence in Emirati banking institutions and the economic opportunities they serve. The expansion of financing to AED 24.1 billion represents resources deployed across the emirate and beyond, supporting businesses, individuals and government entities in pursuit of their aspirations.

The institution’s enhanced regulatory capital position and improved asset quality signal prudent management practices within the UAE banking system. Capital adequacy strengthened by 308 basis points and the decline in non-performing financing ratios demonstrate disciplined underwriting and risk management, foundational elements supporting financial stability across the federation. This performance underscores the resilience and maturity of Emirati financial institutions in navigating evolving economic conditions.
