Al Fakhr Mothers’ Journey honours mothers of fallen heroes
Mothers of fallen Emirati heroes from Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates travelled by Etihad Rail to Zayed National Museum as part of a programme marking Emirati Women’s Day.
Honouring mothers who sacrificed for the nation
The Fallen Heroes’ Affairs Office and the Emirates Council for Balanced Development organised the Al Fakhr Mothers’ Journey to recognise mothers of fallen heroes from the Northern Emirates and Abu Dhabi. Held as part of the UAE’s Emirati Women’s Day observances, this initiative paid tribute to their sacrifices and reinforced their standing as national role models.
Participants travelled by Etihad Rail to Abu Dhabi and visited the Zayed National Museum, where they explored the country’s history and the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The visit linked the UAE’s modern infrastructure with its cultural foundations, offering the mothers time to reflect on national identity and the values that have shaped the union.
The programme included workshops and interactive activities that highlighted the role of Emirati women in family life and nation-building, emphasising their contribution to social cohesion and development. Organisers said the sessions were designed to celebrate resilience, patience and the continuing role of women in shaping the country’s future.
Medical care and support were provided throughout the journey to ensure participants’ comfort and safety, reflecting the comprehensive support extended to families of fallen heroes. The visit also provided time for the mothers to share memories and experiences in an atmosphere of appreciation and solidarity.
Abdullah Ghurair Al Qubaisi, Director of the Fallen Heroes’ Affairs Office, described Emirati Women’s Day as an occasion to honour the contributions of Emirati women and said the mothers exemplify the values of giving and sacrifice. Mohammed Khalifa Al Kaabi, Secretary-General of the Emirates Council for Balanced Development, said the mothers represent living chapters in the nation’s history and that recognising them is a national duty.
The journey was organised in partnership with Etihad Rail and Zayed National Museum, combining a contemporary travel experience with visits to cultural institutions. The initiative formed part of ongoing social and humanitarian programmes run by the Fallen Heroes’ Affairs Office and the Emirates Council for Balanced Development to strengthen community bonds, promote solidarity and preserve the legacy of the nation’s heroes.
By connecting the mothers of fallen heroes with the nation’s history and its modern achievements, organisers said the Al Fakhr Mothers’ Journey sought to reaffirm collective appreciation for sacrifice and to underscore the continuing role of Emirati women in national life.
