Crown Prince Khaled Charts Course for ADNOC's Strategic Growth and National Economic Resilience

His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has chaired a pivotal meeting of ADNOC's Executive Committee, reviewing the energy giant's performance and its role in supporting UAE economic diversification through advanced technologies and local industry partnerships.

The Abu Dhabi Energy Centre provided the setting for a comprehensive review of the nation’s energy sector strategy, as His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, convened the Executive Committee of the ADNOC Board of Directors on 5th November.

During the meeting, His Highness examined ADNOC’s operational performance across the first ten months of 2026, assessing the company’s trajectory in strategic growth initiatives and its adoption of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence solutions throughout its operations. The discussion centred on the organisation’s efforts to reinforce resilience within its value chain, ensuring uninterrupted energy supplies to satisfy the world’s growing requirements whilst positioning the company as a dependable energy provider both domestically and internationally.

His Highness stressed the imperative of sustained investment in production capabilities, emphasising how advanced technologies enhance operational efficiency and strengthen supply chain resilience in support of global energy security. This direction reflects the broader imperative of supporting the national economy whilst reinforcing ADNOC’s standing as a cornerstone of the UAE’s industrial foundation.

The Crown Prince reviewed outcomes from the second Make it with ADNOC Forum, held on 25th October, which convened more than 1,000 local companies and manufacturers. The forum revealed more than AED60 billion in local manufacturing opportunities through 2030, alongside significant enhancements to procurement frameworks, supplier registration systems and In-Country Value initiatives. His Highness underscored the critical importance of supporting national industries and developing local capabilities, recognising that the advancement of high-tech industry localisation accelerates the UAE’s economic diversification. He highlighted how empowering Emirati talent, fostering innovation and creating meaningful private-sector employment opportunities for nationals strengthen the foundations of a competitive, knowledge-driven economy.

His Highness received briefings on ADIPEC 2026, the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, which he visited during the gathering. The Crown Prince underlined the event’s significance as a global platform enabling dialogue and partnership amongst energy sector leaders, policymakers and investors, fostering the exchange of expertise and development of innovative solutions that address energy security, sustainability and economic growth imperatives. The 2026 edition attracted more than 2,250 exhibitors, establishing a comprehensive forum for advancing international partnerships, attracting investment and exploring technological deployment across the energy sector.

The meeting included senior government figures: Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer; Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention; Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority and Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of Mubadala Investment Company; and Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Department of Finance Abu Dhabi.

What it means for Abu Dhabi

The meeting represents a strategic consolidation of Abu Dhabi’s energy sector governance and its role in driving national economic objectives. By directing investment towards production capabilities, advanced technologies and supply chain resilience, the Crown Prince is positioning ADNOC as a catalyst for both energy security and economic diversification. The AED60 billion in local manufacturing opportunities through 2030 signals a deliberate commitment to nurturing the national private sector, creating employment and developing expertise in high-technology industries that extend far beyond traditional energy operations.

For Abu Dhabi’s citizens and economy, the emphasis on local industry partnerships, in-country value frameworks and Emirati talent development translates into tangible opportunities for private sector growth and knowledge-based employment. The strategic direction outlined in this meeting reinforces the Emirate’s position as a global energy leader while simultaneously building a more diversified economic foundation, underpinned by innovation, advanced technologies and the capabilities of national talent.
