Two leading energy companies have joined forces to develop integrated gas supply solutions across the Emirates, signing a strategic agreement at ADIPEC 2026 to expand natural gas and CNG infrastructure capabilities.
The UAE’s energy landscape continues to evolve as Emirates Petroleum Company P.J.S.C. (Emarat) deepens its commitment to supporting the nation’s infrastructure needs through strategic collaboration. During ADIPEC 2026 in Abu Dhabi, Emarat and Al Fanar Gas Group formalised a Memorandum of Understanding to identify, develop and explore new opportunities in natural gas supply and associated gas infrastructure across the Emirates.
The partnership brings together two complementary sets of capabilities: Emarat’s expertise in gas supply and commercial operations with Al Fanar Gas Group’s proven track record in developing and operating gas infrastructure. Together, the companies will work to serve commercial customers and city gas requirements, offering a coordinated end-to-end approach from initial planning through construction, commissioning and long-term operations and maintenance.
Under the terms of the agreement, Emarat will identify potential opportunities and engage directly with customers to understand their specific gas requirements, whilst collaborating with Al Fanar Gas Group to design and operate the necessary infrastructure. The scope of the partnership encompasses natural gas and compressed natural gas (CNG) supply, central gas systems, transmission connections and a suite of integrated solutions tailored to evolving market needs.
Nabeel Buti Bin Buti AlMheiri, Chief Natural Gas Business Officer at Emarat, observed that energy requirements continue to shift as businesses and communities adapt and grow. “Our collaboration with Al Fanar Gas Group will allow us to explore new opportunities, respond more effectively to customer needs, and expand our capabilities across natural gas, CNG and associated gas infrastructure solutions,” he said, emphasising the company’s commitment to developing ventures that create sustainable commercial value while strengthening the energy infrastructure supporting economic activity throughout the UAE.
Khaled Ben Said, Chief Executive Officer of Al Fanar Gas Group, highlighted how the partnership leverages the combined strengths of both organisations. “Al Fanar’s experience across feasibility, engineering, construction, commissioning and operations complements Emarat’s supply capability and commercial reach. We look forward to identifying opportunities where this combined approach can deliver safe, reliable and efficient gas infrastructure while supporting a range of customer requirements.”
The agreement reflects Emarat’s broader strategy of advancing through partnerships that contribute to the UAE’s progress whilst strengthening the company’s core energy capabilities and creating practical value for customers and sectors across the nation.
What it means for Abu Dhabi
This partnership underscores Abu Dhabi’s continued investment in diversifying and strengthening its energy infrastructure beyond traditional petroleum and renewable sectors. By developing integrated natural gas solutions and CNG infrastructure, the collaboration supports the emirate’s ability to serve commercial enterprises and urban communities with reliable energy supply, underpinning economic activity and sustainable growth.
The focus on end-to-end project delivery, from planning through operations, positions the UAE to address evolving energy requirements with greater efficiency and coordination. As businesses increasingly seek tailored, secure and sustainable energy solutions, this partnership demonstrates how strategic collaboration between established companies can enhance the nation’s competitive position whilst supporting the infrastructure that enables commerce and community development across the Emirates.
