The Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence explores the latest technologies and sustainable solutions reshaping the global energy landscape at Abu Dhabi's premier industry gathering.
The halls of ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi resonate this week with the collective ambition of the energy sector. More than 2,260 companies have gathered across sixteen exhibition spaces, their innovations and technologies speaking to a simple truth: the future of energy belongs to those who can balance growth with responsibility, efficiency with sustainability.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, moved through this landscape of possibility during his visit to ADIPEC 2026, the 42nd iteration of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, taking place from 2 to 5 November. His tour reflected a deeper engagement with the exhibition’s strategic priorities: the security and resilience of energy supplies, the architecture of infrastructure development, and the transformative potential of artificial intelligence and digital innovation.
The scale alone speaks to the occasion. Over 239,000 attendees are expected from more than 170 countries, whilst 1,800 speakers will address some 380 conference sessions. Thirty country pavilions punctuate the exhibition, each representing the global nature of the energy conversation. It is, quite simply, the world’s energy sector gathering in one place.
During his tour, Sheikh Nahyan examined the solutions being presented by participating organisations across energy production and infrastructure development, studying how companies are working to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen the reliability of energy supplies, reduce emissions and build energy systems more resilient and sustainable. Four specialised zones focus the exhibition’s ambition: artificial intelligence, digital transformation, low-carbon solutions and chemicals, and maritime and logistics services. Each represents not merely a technical discipline but a pathway toward the energy systems that future generations will depend upon.
In his remarks, Sheikh Nahyan emphasised that ADIPEC embodies the international cooperation essential to addressing the challenges before the global energy sector. The exhibition, he noted, reflects the UAE’s position as a leading international hub for dialogue, knowledge exchange and partnership. Abu Dhabi’s role as host, he stressed, underscores the nation’s commitment to creating spaces where industry leaders, decision-makers, experts and investors can forge the strategic partnerships and investment pathways that will shape the sector’s evolution.
The Minister highlighted the foundational importance of knowledge, scientific research and artificial intelligence to the energy industry’s future. Investment in human capital and specialised skills must accompany technological advancement, he observed, reflecting his broader commitment to education and development. As we have reported previously, Sheikh Nahyan has championed scholarship funds and educational endowments as the means by which nations build the expertise their future demands.
Strengthening cooperation among institutions, companies, research centres and development facilities remains, in Sheikh Nahyan’s view, essential to accelerating the adoption of innovative solutions and improving both operational and production efficiency. His remarks acknowledged the pioneering role of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company in advancing the sector’s competitiveness, whilst commending the ADIPEC organisers for sustaining the event’s reputation as a platform where leading international companies and experts showcase the latest developments shaping the industry’s trajectory.
The exhibition’s focus on energy security, investment and financing, infrastructure development and emissions reduction technologies reflects shared recognition that the energy industry’s future must be built on a foundation of both innovation and environmental stewardship. The specialised zones dedicated to low-carbon solutions and emerging technologies underscore this commitment, revealing an industry in genuine transformation.
What it means for Abu Dhabi
ADIPEC 2026’s scale and strategic focus reinforce Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading international centre for energy dialogue and cooperation. With nearly a quarter of a million attendees and representation from over 170 nations, the exhibition demonstrates the city’s capacity to convene global industry leadership and facilitate the partnerships and investment flows that sustain both regional and international energy security. The presence of government officials, ministers and senior leaders from around the world underscores Abu Dhabi’s diplomatic and commercial influence within the energy sector.
For the Emirate itself, the exhibition represents an opportunity to showcase the technological sophistication and innovative capacity that characterise its approach to energy development. By highlighting advances in artificial intelligence, digital transformation and low-carbon solutions alongside traditional energy sector expertise, Abu Dhabi continues to position itself as a jurisdiction where economic growth and environmental stewardship advance together. The investments in knowledge, research and human capital that Sheikh Nahyan emphasised are precisely the foundations upon which the Emirate’s economic future will be built.
