17 horses to compete in UAE President’s Cup leg at Casablanca Anfa

The fourteenth leg of the UAE President’s Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses will run at Casablanca Anfa racecourse with 17 contenders as part of the second UAE–Moroccan Festival.

Casablanca stage for fourteenth leg of UAE President’s Cup

The Casablanca Anfa dirt racecourse will host the fourteenth leg of the UAE President’s Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses tomorrow, forming part of the 33rd edition of the Prestigious Cup. Seventeen horses from Morocco, the Arab world and Europe are entered for the Group 3 contest over 1,900 metres on dirt, open to Purebred Arabian horses aged four years and above.

The Morocco leg is included in the second UAE–Moroccan Festival, staged under the patronage of the President’s Cup series and comprising eight races. The festival is intended to deepen cooperation between the two countries in support of Arabian horse racing and to highlight Morocco’s long-standing role in Arabian horse breeding and production.

Yas Horse Racing Management provides the Emirati challenge with a notable pair. So’ud (by Gazwan out of Ahoud), trained by Thomas Fourcy and ridden by Alexandre Gavilan, and Tariq (by AF Albahar out of Atheer), trained by Damien de Watrigant and ridden by Fabrice Veron, head the yard’s challenge as they seek further international success for Yas-owned runners.

Among other leading entries is Moshrif (by Dahess out of Tashreefat), owned by Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari, trained by Xavier Thomas-Demeaulte and partnered by Guillaume Guedj-Gay. Moshrif will carry top weight of 62 kg. Al Leith Racing’s Buraak (by Mahabb out of Shumoos), trained by Ali Mohamed and ridden by Mohcine Lafram, is also expected to feature among the principal performers.

The remainder of the field includes Mugheer, Wabil, Weld Zinat, Al Mambir Fal, HM Barez, Matrix Al Ashai, Nahim, Ghadi Atlas, Bayane LK, Sala’ah, Shan, Yaaini Fal and Zayiyr, bringing depth and competitive balance to the line-up for the Morocco leg.

Matar Suhail Al Yabhouni Al Dhaheri, Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee of the UAE President’s Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses, underlined the significance of the Casablanca meeting for the series. He noted the strong participation as a reflection of the Cup’s standing among owners and breeders and praised the cooperation with Moroccan hosts in promoting the Arabian horse on prominent international racecourses.

The Casablanca leg is one stop on the global tour of the President’s Cup series, which aims to elevate the profile of the Purebred Arabian horse, support owners and breeders, and develop the sport internationally.
