Abu Dhabi’s Agricultural Vision Advances Through Enhanced Regional Strategy

Senior leadership reviews transformative initiatives designed to strengthen local farming, modernise production methods and reinforce the emirate's food security ambitions in Al Ain Region.
His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Undersecretary of the Ruler’s Representative Court in Al Ain Region, has convened with senior officials from Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) to assess progress on the emirate’s agricultural development agenda and evaluate capital investments supporting the sector’s expansion across the region.
Led by His Excellency Dr Tariq Ahmed Al Ameri, Acting Director-General of ADAFSA, the delegation briefed Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamdan bin Zayed on the Agricultural Transformation Strategy’s evolving initiatives, which prioritise enhanced local production capacity, strengthened support for farmers and farm owners, and the systematic adoption of contemporary agricultural methodologies and advanced technological solutions.
Infrastructure and Capability Enhancement
The discussion encompassed comprehensive updates on ADAFSA’s capital project portfolio within Al Ain Region, alongside strategic plans to develop essential infrastructure and productive assets serving both the agriculture and livestock sectors. These investments form part of a broader commitment to elevate service efficiency for farmers and livestock breeders, ensuring they possess the tools and resources necessary for sustainable commercial operations.
Participants examined approaches to optimise resource utilisation and ensure closer integration between capital investment initiatives and the overarching objectives of the Agricultural Transformation Strategy. The dialogue also explored opportunities to deploy innovative solutions throughout the agricultural production ecosystem, with the dual purpose of advancing sectoral sustainability and enhancing the international competitiveness of locally produced commodities.
Strategic Alignment and Regional Development
His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan reaffirmed that continued agricultural development throughout Al Ain Region represents a direct alignment with the vision and strategic guidance of the emirate’s leadership. This commitment encompasses the promotion of local production, the integration of modern technologies into farming practices, and the reinforcement of agriculture’s essential role as a driver of sustainable economic development and improved quality of life across the region.
Leadership emphasised the imperative that agricultural projects and initiatives deliver tangible, measurable benefits for the farming community. This approach centres upon the creation of a supportive operational environment that enables enhanced productivity and positions both farmers and farm owners to capitalise on the emerging opportunities generated through the developing agricultural and food production sectors.
