Internal Security Committee Reviews Preparedness Against Climate Impacts

The Ministry of Interior's Supreme Committee for Internal Security convened to assess readiness measures and coordination strategies amid climate change considerations.
The Ministry of Interior’s Supreme Committee for Internal Security met to examine evolving developments in national security, alongside considerations regarding climate change and its potential consequences. The gathering, conducted via video conference as part of the Committee’s 2026 operational schedule, sought to reinforce preparedness measures across relevant sectors and institutions.
Chaired by Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, the meeting brought together police chiefs, committee members, directors-general and Ministry of Interior officers, alongside representatives of the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) and strategic partners. This collaborative assembly reflected the multi-institutional approach required to address contemporary security challenges.
The Committee’s discussion centred on strengthening joint operational cooperation and coordination frameworks, whilst reviewing national contingency plans and the efficacy of joint exercises and training programmes. Particular emphasis was placed upon institutional readiness to respond proactively to emergencies, recognising the need for heightened preparedness in an evolving operational environment.
Committee members stressed the paramount importance of integrating efforts across all relevant entities and enhancing coordination mechanisms alongside response capabilities. By fostering seamless collaboration between agencies, the Committee aims to ensure swift and effective responses to changing circumstances and exceptional situations. This coordinated approach remains fundamental to sustaining community safety and security throughout the United Arab Emirates.
