Mubadala Bio Expands Immunology Portfolio with Launch of Two Advanced Biologics

The life sciences company's subsidiary Bioventure Healthcare introduces Adalimumab and Ustekinumab, reinforcing the UAE's commitment to advancing global access to specialised therapeutic solutions.
Mubadala Bio has announced a significant expansion of its therapeutic offerings with the launch of two pioneering immunology treatments through its subsidiary, Bioventure Healthcare. The introduction of Adalimumab and Ustekinumab represents a meaningful advancement in the company’s strategic commitment to broadening access to high-quality biologic therapies across the region and internationally.
These monoclonal antibodies address chronic immunological conditions that demand sustained, targeted therapeutic approaches to manage symptoms, regulate disease progression, and meaningfully enhance patients’ quality of life. The launch represents another milestone in Mubadala Bio’s evolving strategy to establish the UAE as a centre of excellence for advanced pharmaceutical innovation.
Therapeutic Applications and Clinical Significance
Adalimumab functions as a monoclonal antibody targeting tumour necrosis factor (TNF), offering treatment for an extensive range of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. These include rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, plaque psoriasis, and non-infectious uveitis, providing healthcare professionals with a versatile therapeutic option for their patients.
Ustekinumab operates through a distinct mechanism, blocking the interleukin-12 and interleukin-23 inflammatory pathways. It is indicated for moderate to severe plaque psoriasis, ulcerative colitis, psoriatic arthritis, and Crohn’s disease, thereby complementing Adalimumab within the expanded portfolio.
Strategic Vision and Leadership Perspective
Dr Essam Mohamed, Group Chief Executive Officer of Mubadala Bio, commented on the significance of the expansion: “Biologic therapies deliver considerable value through their precision-focused approach to disease management. With the addition of Adalimumab and Ustekinumab, we are substantially broadening access to specialised treatment options that empower healthcare professionals in delivering superior patient care.”
Hamad Almarzooqi, Group Deputy Chief Executive Officer, emphasised the strategic implications: “Our expanding biologics portfolio demonstrates the substantial progress we are achieving in advancing and localising innovative therapies. Each new launch represents our commitment to expanding access to advanced medicines whilst supporting the UAE’s aspiration to establish itself as a global hub for life sciences.”
Healthcare Resilience and Ecosystem Development
This initiative aligns comprehensively with Mubadala Bio’s broader institutional vision of strengthening healthcare resilience, enhancing access to essential treatments, and supporting the development of a sustainable life sciences ecosystem capable of meeting the sophisticated evolving requirements of both patients and healthcare providers throughout the region.
