Dubai CommerCity and Global Commerce Foundation unite to advance agentic AI in digital commerce

A strategic partnership aims to harness autonomous artificial intelligence to transform cross-border commerce, with Dubai positioning itself as a global centre for technological innovation and digital trade.
Dubai CommerCity, the MENA region’s preeminent free zone specialising in digital commerce and part of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), has formalised a collaborative partnership with the Global Commerce Foundation through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. The accord was executed at Dubai CommerCity’s headquarters during the Ai Everything Abu Dhabi 2026 conference, an influential gathering of technology leaders, investors and innovators showcasing cutting-edge applications of advanced technologies.
The Global Commerce Foundation, an independent international organisation, is dedicated to advancing digital commerce through strengthened cooperation between markets, enterprises, entrepreneurs, specialists and academic institutions. The partnership establishes a comprehensive framework for cooperation in digital, cross-border, unified and collaborative commerce, with particular emphasis on exploring applications of agentic artificial intelligence within the sector.
Agentic AI represents a paradigm shift in digital commerce architecture, enabling systems to execute business tasks and processes with greater autonomy rather than serving merely as supporting tools. This technological evolution promises to enhance operational efficiency, facilitate market access and support international expansion for participating businesses.
Amna Lootah, Director General of Dubai CommerCity, emphasised the significance of this collaboration: “Agentic AI represents a fundamental shift in the future of digital commerce, as we move from using AI as a supporting tool to deploying it to execute tasks and processes with greater autonomy.” She highlighted how the partnership strengthens Dubai’s position as a global hub for trade and the digital economy, whilst enabling the private sector to adopt advanced technologies and build more competitive business models.
Marcos Pueyrredon, President of Global Commerce Foundation, underscored the value of cross-market learning and collaboration: “Our collaboration with Dubai CommerCity provides a platform to explore models that bring together research, capacity building and the practical testing of solutions within an active business environment.” Drawing upon more than two decades of experience and relationships, the partnership will connect international ecosystems with Dubai, positioning the emirate as a strategic hub for global opportunities and knowledge exchange.
A notable milestone of the inaugural year involves hosting the Global Finale of the Tetrix Agentic World League in Dubai during 2027’s Dubai AI Week. This event will convene talent, companies, institutions and innovative solutions from diverse markets, fostering knowledge exchange across Latin America, the Caribbean and the global digital commerce sector.
The partnership encompasses applied research, proof-of-concept initiatives, technology demonstrations, market studies, best practice exchanges and business case development. Additional cooperation areas include executive education, professional training, mentorship and talent development, alongside innovation challenges, incubation programmes and business accelerators.
