UAE Horse Racing Authority Unveils Strong Field for Second Trial of 2026-2027 Season
Forty-one horses compete across seven races at Jebel Ali Racecourse as the new season gathers momentum with impressive performances from Arabian and Thoroughbred competitors.
The UAE Horse Racing Authority has announced the successful completion of the second trial race of the 2026-2027 season, held at Jebel Ali Racecourse in Dubai. The event showcased the participation of 41 purebred Arabian and Thoroughbred horses competing across seven races, demonstrating the high calibre of horsemanship and animal preparation that characterises the emirate’s racing calendar.
The trial featured a notably strong contingent of Arabian horses, with 37 purebred Arabians taking to the track. Of these, 28 were competing in races for the first time, whilst nine were returning competitors. The line-up was completed by four Thoroughbred horses with previous racing experience. Races were contested over two distances: two races spanned 1,000 metres, whilst five were run over 800 metres, providing varied conditions to test the capabilities of the competing animals.
Rashid Al Belushi, member of the Stewards Committee at the UAE Horse Racing Authority, highlighted the significance of the trial’s outcomes. He noted that the performances demonstrated the horses’ state of preparation and readiness, reflecting the diligent efforts of owners, trainers and jockeys throughout the pre-season period.
The Authority has confirmed that racing will proceed according to its established schedule, with the third trial scheduled for the following Wednesday. Mr Al Belushi underscored the commitment to maintaining the high standards that characterised the previous season, emphasising the importance of continued collaboration between all stakeholders. The Authority remains dedicated to providing comprehensive support and facilities that enhance the racing experience for competitors and spectators alike, ensuring the ongoing success and prestige of the UAE’s equestrian sporting calendar.
