ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon Returns to the Corniche for Eighth Edition in December

The prestigious marathon will commence from Abu Dhabi's iconic waterfront on 12th December, welcoming elite international runners and thousands of participants in a celebration of sport and community wellness.
The eighth edition of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon will unfold along one of the capital’s most resplendent settings when it commences from Abu Dhabi Corniche on 12th December, uniting elite international competitors with thousands of enthusiastic participants representing diverse nationalities and age groups. This relocation to the scenic coastal route presents an exceptional opportunity to experience competitive racing within a magnificent natural backdrop, seamlessly blending athletic excellence with broad community engagement.
The event will be preceded by the establishment of the Abu Dhabi Marathon Village at ADNOC Headquarters Park along the Corniche, which will open its doors on 7th December, thereby transforming the occasion into an expansive week-long celebration of sport and community spirit. This thoughtful extension provides ample opportunity for runners, spectators and families to experience the festivities and prepare for race day.
Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, expressed his enthusiasm for the new starting point, noting that Abu Dhabi Corniche represents one of the capital’s most iconic destinations. Through this distinctive coastal setting, the organisers look forward to delivering an exceptional experience that reflects the remarkable trajectory the marathon has undertaken across its seven preceding editions and maintains pace with the burgeoning international participation.
The eighth edition will encompass a comprehensive range of competitive distances: a full 42.195-kilometre marathon, a two-person marathon relay, races over 10 kilometres and 5 kilometres, and a 2.5-kilometre family and children’s race, ensuring accessibility for participants of all abilities and aspirations. The Abu Dhabi Sports Council will orchestrate two preparatory races in advance of the main event: a 10-kilometre race in Al Dhannah City on 24th October, followed by a 21.1-kilometre half-marathon in Al Ain on 7th November.
Since its inception in 2018, the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon has experienced remarkable expansion, with the seventh edition welcoming more than 37,000 runners from across the globe. The event represents a cornerstone of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s commitment to promoting physical activity, cultivating healthy lifestyles and reinforcing the capital’s distinguished standing as a premier destination for international sporting excellence.
