UAE U23 Minifootball Team Prepares for World Cup Debut in Croatia

The National Under-23 Minifootball Team will compete in the prestigious World Cup tournament in Croatia, representing a significant milestone for the emerging discipline within the Emirates.
The UAE Sports for All Federation has announced that the National Under-23 Minifootball Team will take part in the World Cup in Croatia from 11th to 17th October, marking a momentous occasion for the nation’s participation in this international competition.
The carefully selected 14-player squad, predominantly composed of athletes born in 2005 and 2006, embarks upon this inaugural overseas tournament following rigorous final selection procedures. The team’s technical composition reflects a deliberate approach to player development, with selections made according to stringent criteria designed to cultivate a formidable competitive squad for forthcoming international engagements.
Team Manager Sarmad Al Zadjali emphasised the profound significance of this tournament as a preparatory platform, offering invaluable competitive experience in anticipation of the 2027 and 2028 World Cups and other international competitions of distinction. This strategic progression underscores the federation’s commitment to nurturing excellence within the discipline.
The squad has benefited from an extensive and meticulous training programme orchestrated by Head Coach Mohammed Al Hashemi and Assistant Coach Mohammed Al Matroushi, ensuring the players arrive in Croatia comprehensively prepared for the rigours of international competition. Beyond this pioneering overseas appearance, continued development shall be facilitated through domestic competitions scheduled throughout the forthcoming season, establishing a robust framework for sustained progression and competitive refinement.
