Emirati AI Experts Embark on Study Mission to China’s Leading Technology Hubs
Sixteen artificial intelligence specialists from the Emirates will undertake a comprehensive five-day study visit to Beijing and Shanghai to examine China's approach to AI governance, research translation and digital innovation.
The National Experts Programme – Artificial Intelligence Track (NEP-AI) has facilitated an immersive international study visit, scheduled for 12th to 16th October, that will bring together sixteen Emirati artificial intelligence experts with China’s most prominent research institutions and technology enterprises. This carefully curated engagement represents a significant opportunity for knowledge exchange and insight into how advanced artificial intelligence research translates into entrepreneurial ventures, commercial applications and large-scale technological deployment.
Taking place across Beijing and Shanghai, the five-day programme operates under the unifying theme of AI Governance, Smart Nation Systems and Digital Government. The visit will investigate the intricate mechanisms through which artificial intelligence policy, cutting-edge technologies and sophisticated digital systems can be mobilised to advance national strategic priorities and enhance the delivery of government services to citizens and businesses alike.
The Emirati delegation will engage directly with a carefully selected portfolio of leading organisations across China’s artificial intelligence landscape. These include Zhipu.ai, a distinguished artificial intelligence company and research laboratory; the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT); ByteDance, the globally recognised multinational internet technology enterprise; AgiBot, a specialised artificial intelligence and robotics organisation; and Agentrix, an innovative enterprise artificial intelligence operating system. Through these engagements, the visiting experts will gain comprehensive exposure to the multifaceted layers that comprise China’s expansive artificial intelligence ecosystem.
This China visit constitutes one of three international study visits integrated within the NEP-AI programme, strategically designed to expose participants to diverse and complementary approaches to artificial intelligence research, policy formulation, commercialisation pathways and technological deployment across the world’s most advanced technology ecosystems.
The sixteen NEP-AI participants will be accompanied throughout their journey by six NEP alumni and Fellows, whose accumulated experience from previous National Experts Programme cohorts will enrich the collective learning experience. These distinguished mentors will actively participate in substantive discussions and knowledge exchange throughout the visit, fostering an environment of collaborative inquiry and mutual professional development.
