Community Run at The Ripe Market Returns for Ninth Edition

A welcoming series of six race days across autumn and spring invites runners of all abilities to compete across four distances at Dubai Police Academy Park.

The Community Run Series represents one of Dubai’s most inclusive sporting initiatives, returning for its ninth consecutive edition with a celebration of participation, fitness and outdoor activity during the emirate’s most clement seasons. From October 2026 through May 2027, runners of all ages and fitness levels are invited to experience a carefully curated programme of six race days, each offering genuine choice in distance and difficulty whilst maintaining the welcoming spirit that has defined this event since its inception.

Held at The Ripe Market within the grounds of Dubai Police Academy Park, the series transforms a beloved community destination into an active sporting venue, combining competitive running with the vibrant weekend atmosphere and family entertainment that characterise the market itself. The event embodies the UAE’s commitment to fostering healthy lifestyles and community connection, drawing participants from across the emirate who value fitness, fresh air and the camaraderie of fellow runners.

What is the Community Run Series?

The Community Run is a long established initiative that prioritises accessibility and enjoyment over elite competition. Now in its ninth year, the series welcomes runners regardless of age, experience or ability level, making it equally suited to families introducing their children to running, seasoned athletes maintaining their fitness, and everyone in between. The format emphasises participation and celebration rather than performance pressure, with every finisher receiving a medal and complimentary goods to mark their achievement.

Race distances and format

Participants choose from four distinct distances tailored to different preferences and capabilities. The 2.5 kilometre route offers an accessible introduction perfect for families with younger runners or those new to organised events. The 5 kilometre distance remains the most popular race length globally and attracts a broad cross section of recreational runners. The 10 kilometre option appeals to committed recreational athletes, whilst the 15 kilometre course provides a substantial challenge for experienced runners seeking to build endurance. All routes follow scenic paths around The Ripe Market grounds, allowing participants to experience the park’s natural appeal whilst completing their chosen distance.

The Ripe Market and Dubai Police Academy Park

The Ripe Market has become one of Dubai’s most distinctive community gathering spaces, celebrated for its curated selection of independent vendors, artisanal producers and local businesses. Located within the grounds of Dubai Police Academy Park, the market sits amid green spaces and open areas that provide an ideal setting for outdoor sporting events. The park’s tree lined pathways and landscaped environment create pleasant running conditions whilst the market’s weekend energy and family friendly amenities enhance the post race experience considerably.

Post run celebrations and community atmosphere

Completing a race distance is only the beginning of the Community Run experience. Following their finish, participants are invited to join celebrations centred on family friendly entertainment and the market’s lively weekend ambiance. This transition from active running to community gathering reflects the event’s broader philosophy: sport as a vehicle for connection and wellbeing rather than competition alone. The combination of achievement, celebration and community creates a memorable experience that encourages participants to return for subsequent race days throughout the season.

When and where

The Community Run Series takes place on select days between Sunday 4 October 2026 and Sunday 2 May 2027 at The Ripe Market, Dubai Police Academy Park. The six designated race days span the cooler months when Dubai’s outdoor season is most enjoyable, allowing participants to run comfortably before temperatures become prohibitive.

Tickets and admission

Registration is available online only. Ticket prices are AED116 for the 2.5 kilometre distance, AED126 for 5 kilometres, AED137 for 10 kilometres and AED156 for 15 kilometres. Every participant receives a medal and complimentary goods upon completion.

The Community Run Series exemplifies Dubai’s approach to wellness and social connection, offering residents and visitors alike a structured yet convivial opportunity to engage in outdoor activity during the most pleasant time of year.
