Azur Grill: Al Raha’s Mediterranean Coastline Reimagined

A familiar name, sharpened into a coastal grill

The Al Raha address, long known simply as Azur, has been given a clearer identity by the resort. Its current official name is Azur Grill, and the change is more than cosmetic: Al Raha Beach Resort & Spa now describes it as a modern Mediterranean coastal concept shaped by Greek warmth, Italian seaside simplicity and the polish of the French Riviera. That makes sense of the setting. This is not a city-centre dining room trying to manufacture a holiday mood; the hotel gardens, pool and waterside atmosphere already supply it. Experience Abu Dhabi still carries the older Azur Restaurant name, which is useful history, but the resort’s live dining page is the version diners should follow.

Seafood first, with citrus and herbs doing the heavy lifting

The current proposition is deliberately uncomplicated. The hotel classifies Azur Grill as a seafood restaurant and emphasises fresh, simply prepared dishes lifted by citrus and herbs rather than overloaded with technique. It is a smart direction for Abu Dhabi’s climate and for an alfresco-leaning restaurant. The Mediterranean reference is broad enough to move between Greek, Italian and French coastal flavours, but narrow enough to give the kitchen a recognisable point of view. Earlier descriptions of Azur focused heavily on Italian food; the new positioning widens the lens without abandoning that coastal DNA. The result is the sort of restaurant where grilled seafood, bright seasoning and clean plates should make more sense than theatrical fine-dining construction.

An evening restaurant worth rediscovering

Azur Grill currently opens from 6 pm to 10.30 pm, giving it a distinctly evening rhythm. That timing suits the venue: the appeal builds as the heat falls and the resort’s outdoor spaces become part of dinner rather than simply a backdrop. For guests staying at Al Raha Beach Resort & Spa, it is an easy in-house option, but it is also worth treating as a destination in its own right for diners based around Al Raha, Khalifa City or Yas. The important update for returning guests is simple: this is no longer best understood as the old generic hotel Italian. The resort has tightened the concept around the Mediterranean coast, seafood and an outdoor sense of place – exactly the sort of evolution that makes an established address feel current again.
