Abu Dhabi Judicial Department Welcomes 61 New Private Mediators

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department has sworn in a significant cohort of private mediators, reinforcing the emirate's commitment to alternative dispute resolution and strengthening its position as a centre of legal excellence.
The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department has formally inducted sixty-one private mediators in civil and commercial disputes, a milestone that underscores the emirate’s dedication to advancing its justice system through contemporary alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. The legal oath ceremony, conducted before Counsellor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, marked the official commencement of their professional duties under the applicable legal framework.
This appointment reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, to cultivate a justice system that embraces flexible legal alternatives whilst maintaining alignment with international best practices. The integration of private mediation into Abu Dhabi’s dispute resolution landscape represents a thoughtful complement to the conventional court system, enabling parties to pursue swift and amicable settlements through mutually agreed mechanisms.
Counsellor Al Abri emphasised that private mediation serves as a cornerstone of Abu Dhabi’s thriving investment and economic ecosystem. By offering expeditious and efficacious pathways for resolving civil and commercial disagreements, these mechanisms foster commercial confidence and continuity. The confidential nature of mediation proceedings further enhances their appeal to businesses seeking to preserve commercial relationships whilst achieving resolution, thereby contributing to the stability and robustness of transactional environments across the emirate.
The newly appointed mediators have been called upon to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct, embracing principles of integrity, impartiality and transparency in their practice. Adherence to applicable legislation and established professional standards remains paramount, ensuring that the rights and interests of all parties are protected and that settlements are achieved through equitable and efficient processes.
The mediators themselves have expressed profound appreciation for the responsibility entrusted to them, pledging unwavering commitment to performing their duties with integrity and impartiality. Their collective dedication to fostering amicable dispute resolution contributes meaningfully to upholding the rule of law and strengthening Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a jurisdiction of choice for legal certainty and sophisticated conflict management.
