The Resonance of Heritage: Emirati Musical Craftsmanship Comes Alive

We are invited to step into a world where sound and tradition converge, where the ancient craft of musical instrument making unfolds before us in all its meticulous splendour. The Music Pavilion awaits at the 12th Traditional Handicrafts Festival, a celebration dedicated to preserving the extraordinary skills that have been lovingly transmitted through generations of Emirati artisans.

This immersive experience transports us into the very heart of Emirati musical heritage. Through an interactive exhibition, we discover the profound knowledge and techniques that master craftspeople employ to bring musical instruments to life. These are not merely objects, but vessels of cultural identity, each one embodying the artistic vision and technical prowess of those who create them.

The festival offers far more than passive observation. Live demonstrations reveal the extraordinary precision and artistry required to construct these instruments, whilst carefully curated workshops invite us to engage directly with the creative process. We may find ourselves handling tools, understanding materials, and glimpsing the dedication that defines this venerable craft.

The festival takes place at Al Qattara in Al Ain, a setting of considerable cultural significance, from 23 October through to 11 November 2026. Here, in this distinguished venue, the 12th edition of the festival unfolds as a testament to Abu Dhabi’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its most treasured cultural assets.

This is an opportunity to witness craftsmanship at its most refined, to understand the intricate relationship between skill, heritage and identity, and to celebrate the remarkable individuals who ensure that the musical traditions of the Emirates continue to resonate with grace and authenticity for generations yet to come.
