PureHealth Secures AAA ESG Rating for Second Consecutive Year

The leading healthcare group has demonstrated exceptional environmental, social and governance performance, with sustainability initiatives spanning emissions reductions, community engagement and workforce development across the UAE and United Kingdom.

PureHealth has retained its AAA environmental, social and governance rating from MSCI, the independent index provider, marking the second consecutive year of this distinguished recognition. The assessment score positions the Group approximately 30 percent above the industry average, reflecting its unwavering commitment to sustainable and responsible business practices.

The achievement coincides with the release of PureHealth’s 2025 Sustainability and Social Impact Report, which documents comprehensive progress across environmental, social and governance dimensions. The Group recorded an 11 percent reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions compared with the preceding year, whilst emissions intensity declined by 6 percent. Following its international expansion, PureHealth completed a Group-wide emissions rebaseline to ensure accurate measurement and continued improvement.

The Group’s environmental initiatives include its first on-site solar installation at SEHA Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Mohamed Medical City, which generates over 1,000 megawatt-hours of clean electricity annually and eliminates emissions equivalent to 330 tonnes of CO₂. Additionally, the Group recycled approximately 3,000 tonnes of waste, advancing its trajectory towards achieving net zero emissions by 2040.

In terms of community and social impact, PureHealth contributed AED41 million to community initiatives throughout the UAE in 2025 and pledged a further AED50 million to the Life Endowment campaign, established by Awqaf Abu Dhabi in collaboration with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, to support treatment for vulnerable patients with chronic diseases. Community initiatives across the Group’s operations reached approximately 473,000 beneficiaries, representing a 116 percent increase year-on-year, whilst volunteer participation increased by 88 percent.

The Group’s commitment to supporting the national economy is evident through AED3.7 billion in expenditure with local suppliers, reinforcing the National In-Country Value Programme and domestic supply chains. PureHealth’s subsidiary Rafed received an ICV Champion Award in recognition of its support for national small and medium-sized enterprises.

Workforce development has flourished, with training hours reaching 834,000 during the year, a 30 percent increase from 2024. The number of Emiratis employed across the Group reached 5,300, whilst 146 participants graduated from the Emirati Development Centre, representing a 21 percent increase. Women comprise 66 percent of the total workforce and hold 34 percent of leadership positions. People of Determination employment increased by 59 percent to reach 500 across the Group’s operations.

Shaista Asif, Group Chief Executive Officer, emphasised that the MSCI AAA ESG rating reflects the Group’s commitment to sustainability and building a resilient healthcare system that creates enduring value for the UAE and its communities. The Group continues developing PureHeroes, the national healthcare volunteering platform established in partnership with Emirates Foundation.
