The Rhythms of Poetry: Abu Dhabi Nurtures the Art of Verse

The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre presents an extraordinary opportunity for enthusiasts of classical and contemporary Arabic poetry to deepen their craft through a carefully curated programme of poetic instruction. Nestled within the institution’s broader commitment to celebrating the richness of Arabic language and literature, the workshop series invites participants on an immersive journey into the technical and artistic dimensions of versification.

Drawing upon the guidance of accomplished poets and collaborating with the esteemed platform Fawwalen, the centre’s initiative promises to equip aspiring poets with the practical knowledge necessary to compose verses of genuine inspiration. The eight in person sessions, complemented by a concluding evening reception graced by a distinguished poet, unfold across autumn and into the depths of December, meeting from four in the afternoon until eight in the evening.

The workshop series commences on the twenty third of October and concludes on the nineteenth of December, two thousand and twenty six, offering participants a sustained engagement with the principles of rhythm, metre and poetic expression that distinguish the Arabic literary tradition. Each session provides an opportunity to explore the technical foundations of verse composition whilst cultivating one’s individual voice and artistic sensibility.

This programme exemplifies the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre’s steadfast dedication to preserving and advancing the cultural heritage of the Emirate. By fostering a community of writers and poets committed to creative excellence, the centre ensures that the eloquence and sophistication of Arabic poetry continues to flourish among Emirati practitioners and enthusiasts alike. The final deadline for applications is the twentieth of October, two thousand and twenty six.
