The UAE Ministry of Defence has unveiled the comprehensive scientific programme for the ICMM World Congress of Military Medicine, welcoming registration from medical professionals, researchers and practitioners worldwide for the landmark event.
Abu Dhabi is poised to welcome the distinguished 46th International Congress of Military Medicine, a premier gathering of global medical expertise scheduled to convene from 9 to 13 November 2026 at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. The Organising Committee, under the stewardship of the UAE Ministry of Defence in partnership with ADNEC Group, has now confirmed the comprehensive scientific programme and formally opened registration for this anticipated international event.
The congress represents a significant occasion for the medical community, drawing together an exceptionally broad assembly of participants. The event is anticipated to attract more than 2,000 delegates and welcome contributions from over 300 speakers, collectively representing more than 40 distinct medical and health disciplines. This convergence of international expertise reflects the congress’s standing as a preeminent platform for advancing knowledge across military and civilian medicine.
The scientific programme encompasses an impressively diverse range of specialised disciplines and contemporary topics, from Force Health Protection and Individual Medical Readiness through to Space Medicine, Telemedicine and Decision Support. Participants will engage with discussions on Surgical Care, Trauma and Burns management, Mental Health and Resilience, and innovative applications of artificial intelligence across healthcare delivery. The curriculum extends to Disaster Medicine, Humanitarian Response, and Civil-Military Medical Cooperation, ensuring comprehensive coverage of evolving healthcare challenges.
Distinguished international speakers contributing to the congress include Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings; Colonel Dr. Julian Williams, Director of Clinical Services at the Australian Army’s 2nd Health Brigade; Colonel Dr. Bernd Klaubert, Senior Pharmacy Officer in the German Armed Forces; Colonel Erik S. DeSoucy, Commander and Trauma Surgeon in the United States Air Force; and Rajeev Sadanandan, Member of the Technical Advisory Panel of the World Bank’s Pandemic Fund.
The programme skillfully combines theoretical scientific sessions with practical, hands-on components. Participants will benefit from focus group discussions, workshops and skills-transfer training encompassing decontamination procedures and medical management of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear incidents, alongside Mass Casualty Incident management and advanced trauma surgical techniques. Sessions on Point-of-Care Ultrasound in field settings, regional anaesthesia and Tactical Combat Casualty Care fundamentals will strengthen the congress’s practical dimension.
An accompanying exhibition featuring more than 60 platforms will provide an interactive forum for knowledge exchange and the cultivation of professional partnerships. This integrated environment will enable organisations and institutions to present their latest innovations, solutions and technological advances whilst creating opportunities for meaningful collaboration amongst medical leaders and participating delegations.
Held under the supervision of the International Committee of Military Medicine since its inception in 1921, the congress has established itself as one of the world’s foremost platforms dedicated to military and civilian medicine, convening biennially and bringing together medical practitioners from 120 countries. The 2026 edition reflects the collective endeavours of national institutions and strategic partners, including Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement, EDGE Group, M42, Burjeel Holdings, Mubadala Bio, Purehealth and Gulf Drug, demonstrating the UAE’s commitment to reinforcing its position as a global hub for scientific dialogue and advancing healthcare systems worldwide.
