Guardians of Memory: Celebrating Arab Document Day at the National Library and Archives

As custodians of our collective narrative, the National Library and Archives opens its doors to celebrate Arab Document Day with an occasion of considerable cultural significance. This thoughtfully curated event illuminates the profound importance of historical documents in safeguarding the nation’s memory, preserving our rich cultural and civilisational heritage, and transmitting essential knowledge to generations yet to come.

The programme unfolds with formal remarks followed by a distinguished panel discussion entitled “Family Documents: A Nation’s Memory and a Legacy for Generations”. This intellectually engaging conversation will be led by Dr Khulood Gharib Al Mansoori, a university professor and certified human development trainer whose expertise spans the intersection of personal and national narratives, alongside Mr Saeed Aswad Al Ameri, representing the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, whose perspective enriches our understanding of heritage transmission across family and societal structures.

Hosted within the elegant confines of Sheikh Khalifa Theatre at the National Library and Archives headquarters, this gathering invites you to contemplate the extraordinary power of documentation. Through this event, we acknowledge that documents serve as eloquent witnesses to history itself, functioning as vital bridges that connect the cherished memories of our past with the unfolding stories of our present moment and the aspirations that shape our future.

The event takes place on Monday, 19 October 2026, at 11 AM, offering an opportunity to engage with the profound ways in which preserved records become the foundation upon which national identity and cultural continuity are built.
