Sharjah and Lithuania forge deeper economic partnership

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Lithuania's diplomatic mission to the UAE have outlined a compelling vision for expanded trade and investment collaboration, identifying agriculture, food production and logistics as particularly fertile grounds for mutual prosperity.
A significant meeting between the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the UAE has illuminated substantial opportunities for strengthened economic cooperation between the two jurisdictions. The discussions, held at SCCI’s headquarters, revealed a convergence of commercial interests and a shared commitment to building enduring business relationships.
Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, received Ernestas Mickus, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the UAE, alongside a delegation of Lithuanian officials. The gathering brought together Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for the Communication and Business Sector at SCCI, and Dr Fatima Khalifa Al Muqarrab, Director of the International Relations Department at SCCI, establishing a comprehensive platform for dialogue.
The conversations centred upon three particularly promising sectors for collaborative endeavour: agriculture, food industries and logistics. Both parties recognised these domains as offering substantial potential for companies based in Sharjah to establish meaningful partnerships with Lithuanian enterprises, thereby creating pathways for expanded bilateral trade and investment.
Mr Al Owais emphasised the trajectory of economic relations between the UAE and Lithuania, characterising the relationship as one of steady and promising growth. He underscored the fundamental importance of cultivating direct engagement between the two nations’ business communities, framing such interaction as essential to identifying emerging trade opportunities and developing strategic partnerships that serve the economic interests of both regions.
The initiatives discussed included strengthening communication and coordination between SCCI and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts in Lithuania, creating institutional infrastructure for sustained commercial dialogue. The delegations also outlined preparations for a prospective visit by a Lithuanian business delegation to Sharjah during March and April 2027, anticipating an opportunity for in-person engagement and market exploration.
The Lithuanian representatives expressed considerable appreciation for SCCI’s collaborative approach, acknowledging the Chamber’s instrumental role in fostering bilateral economic ties and establishing effective channels for business communication. They emphasised the considerable potential within Sharjah’s diverse economic sectors, advocating for enhanced coordination between the two nations’ trade institutions to facilitate direct business-to-business relations and explore fresh avenues for mutually beneficial commerce.
