Zayed International Airport inaugurates daily direct service to Berlin with Condor

A new year-round daily connection strengthens ties between Abu Dhabi and Germany, enhancing tourism accessibility and commercial linkages whilst expanding network connectivity across Europe and beyond.

Zayed International Airport has announced the commencement of Condor’s new daily, year-round service connecting Berlin directly with Abu Dhabi, marking a significant milestone in transatlantic connectivity. The route, operated by an Airbus A320neo, represents the first scheduled direct service between these two dynamic capitals on Condor’s network and reflects the growing importance of direct air links between Europe and the United Arab Emirates.

The partnership encompasses a codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways, a strategic arrangement that substantially enhances connectivity between Germany and Abu Dhabi. Passengers departing from Berlin gain seamless access to Etihad’s extensive network spanning Asia, Australia and Africa, whilst travellers originating from Abu Dhabi benefit from Condor’s comprehensive European operations and connecting services through Berlin.

Carsten Nørland, Chief Commercial Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, articulated the significance of this development: “Through our partnership with Condor and Etihad Airways, Zayed International Airport is connecting Abu Dhabi with Berlin and beyond, supporting greater opportunities for tourism, business and trade whilst reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading global destination.”

The new service constitutes an important initiative for Abu Dhabi’s tourism sector, offering visitors from Germany considerably enhanced accessibility to the emirate’s distinguished cultural attractions and world-class leisure facilities. Germany has consistently maintained its position as a valued source market for Abu Dhabi tourism, and this improved air connectivity is anticipated to introduce an expanding number of German travellers to the unique experiences available throughout the emirate.

Haitham Ali Khamis, Acting Director of Tourism Products Development at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, observed that the direct service from Berlin represents a pivotal expansion of Abu Dhabi’s engagement with the German market. The route equally strengthens commercial linkages between the two capitals, facilitating the movement of business professionals and supporting enhanced trade relationships.

Dr. Pierre Dominique Prümm, Chief Commercial Officer at Condor Airlines, emphasised the complementary nature of the partnership: “Together with our codeshare partner Etihad Airways, we are offering our guests an attractive direct service to Abu Dhabi, combined with seamless connections to numerous destinations across Asia, Australia and Africa.”

This service augments Etihad’s already substantial presence throughout Germany, which currently encompasses 35 flights weekly, including an established Frankfurt to Abu Dhabi link, with additional services planned as the partnership continues to develop.
