His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, has bestowed the Dubai-it Award for Projects in the Field of Economy upon SWS Board Technology, recognising an enterprise that stands as a beacon of innovative manufacturing excellence and strategic industrial development.
The distinguished accolade celebrates SWS Board Technology’s remarkable transformation of Dubai’s industrial landscape, establishing what has become one of the world’s most substantial manufacturing operations dedicated to snow and water sports boards. The enterprise demonstrates an extraordinary fusion of technical mastery in composite materials with visionary business development, creating an advanced industrial ecosystem that now serves global markets with unparalleled efficiency and scale.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan reflected upon this achievement with profound appreciation, observing that the emergence of such a globally significant snowboard manufacturing operation from what was once desert represents the quintessence of Dubai’s pioneering spirit. The company now produces approximately half of the world’s kiteboards and wakeboards, together with roughly one-third of its snowboards, commanding an annual production capacity exceeding 450,000 boards destined entirely for international distribution.
Founder Rainier Nouhra established SWS through an inspired convergence of passionate vision and engineering expertise, building a comprehensive global manufacturing venture that now counts among its achievements the sale of more than six million boards worldwide. His strategic approach encompassed meticulous investment in team development, technical capability enhancement, and rigorous research and development practices, all orchestrated to elevate product excellence and manufacturing precision.
