Ministry of Higher Education and Ministry of Economy Launch Entrepreneurship Week Across UAE Institutions
A landmark four-day initiative nurtures entrepreneurial talent amongst students and graduates, showcasing innovative ventures across six premier higher education institutions throughout the Emirates.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in partnership with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, has unveiled Entrepreneurship Week at Higher Education Institutions, a transformative programme unfolding from 19 to 22 October across six distinguished institutions throughout the United Arab Emirates. Conceived as a cornerstone initiative within the broader UAE Entrepreneurial Nation framework, this carefully curated programme endeavours to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset amongst the nation’s emerging talent whilst providing an exceptional platform for promising home-grown ventures to flourish.
The four-day programme encompasses comprehensive exhibitions of entrepreneurial projects hosted at participating institutions, offering students and graduates an extraordinary opportunity to present their innovative ideas, products and services to engaged audiences. This collaborative environment facilitates meaningful connections with pertinent support entities, enabling participants to explore pathways for developing and advancing their ventures within the Emirates’ vibrant entrepreneurial landscape.
The initiative illuminates the exceptional businesses established by students and graduates, whilst establishing dedicated pathways for their continued expansion and development. By positioning universities as incubators of innovation and entrepreneurship, the programme reinforces their pivotal role in channelling visionary thinking into sustainable, scalable enterprises capable of generating meaningful economic value.
Participating institutions encompass Zayed University across its Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses; Higher Colleges of Technology, with representation across Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah; University of Sharjah; American University of Sharjah; Ajman University; and American University of Ras Al Khaimah. Activities are thoughtfully designed to spotlight promising entrepreneurial endeavours and cultivate awareness amongst students regarding emerging sectors aligned with national economic priorities.
The opening day features remarks from senior officials, guided exhibitions and an illuminating awareness session on intellectual property protection delivered by representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism. Participating students and graduates will present their entrepreneurial projects, showcasing the calibre of innovation emerging from the nation’s institutions.
The second day celebrates entrepreneurial excellence through sessions highlighting success stories and professional experiences, complemented by focused discussions on freelancing and forums for knowledge exchange. Project exhibitions continue throughout, culminating in the recognition of outstanding ventures.
The Ministry of Economy and Tourism contributes specialised expertise spanning intellectual property protection and trademarks, alongside comprehensive introduction to the National Programme for Small and Medium Enterprises, equipping participants with enhanced awareness of available resources and support mechanisms. Higher education institutions will identify and classify ventures established by their students and graduates, sharing pertinent data in accordance with programme criteria, ensuring support reaches graduate-led enterprises wholly owned by their founders.
