UAE advances industrial partnerships at Shanghai fair, strengthening global technology collaboration

The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology concludes strategic participation in China International Industry Fair, forging partnerships to accelerate advanced manufacturing adoption across the Emirates

The United Arab Emirates has concluded a significant presence at the China International Industry Fair in Shanghai, reinforcing its commitment to cultivating strategic relations with global markets and advancing the nation’s industrial capabilities through the exchange of technological expertise and innovation.

The delegation, led by Hasan Jasem Al Nowais, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, represented a comprehensive cross-section of the Emirates’ industrial and investment ecosystem. The participation encompassed senior Ministry officials alongside representatives from the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, Mubadala, Emirates Development Bank, Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone, Emirates Global Aluminum, EDGE Group and Aldar, demonstrating the breadth of sectoral engagement.

This international engagement builds upon a series of missions undertaken by the Ministry, most notably recent engagements in Japan, focused on exploring opportunities across robotics, automation, digital manufacturing, precision manufacturing and smart manufacturing solutions. These endeavours seek to enhance productivity and quality whilst advancing the Factory Forward UAE initiative and connecting global technology providers with the Emirates’ industrial sector.

The delegation engaged extensively with leading Chinese industrial enterprises specialising in robotics and automation, including HIKROBOT, ESTUN, HollySys, Inovance, ABB Robotics and Mech-Mind Robotics, facilitating discussions centred upon industrial cooperation, pilot projects within UAE factories, and the development of assembly, maintenance and distribution services.

Site visits to specialised Chinese manufacturing facilities and technology companies provided practical insight into industrial applications. Visits to ABB Robotics explored industrial robotics capabilities, whilst engagement with the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China examined aviation supply chain cooperation opportunities. The delegation also investigated electric vehicle assembly and smart manufacturing applications, control system technologies utilised in clean industries, and emerging opportunities spanning humanoid robotics and inspection systems for industrial and energy sector applications.

Hasan Jasem Al Nowais affirmed that the UAE’s participation reflects the nation’s leadership direction to strengthen strategic relations through building partnerships, exchanging expertise and leveraging advanced technology solutions. He emphasised that such efforts contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of UAE products, increasing industry’s contribution to GDP and strengthening the Emirates’ position as a regional hub for innovation and technology, in alignment with the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology.

The Ministry remains committed to collaborating with international companies and attracting investment, whilst supporting the localisation of industries and supply chains. The UAE’s competitive industrial and investment environment, underpinned by advanced infrastructure and comprehensive business enablers, positions the nation as an attractive destination for regional and international expansion.
