Dubai Police Extends Cybersecurity and Safety Awareness to Nearly 2,850 Community Members

Comprehensive awareness initiatives across Jebel Ali and Dubai Investments Park equip workers with essential knowledge to combat online fraud, enhance road safety and strengthen community resilience.

Dubai Police have undertaken an exemplary community engagement programme, reaching approximately 2,850 individuals through two distinguished awareness events held across Jebel Ali and Dubai Investments Park, thereby advancing the crucial mission of safeguarding residents and workers against contemporary security threats.

These meticulously organised initiatives, conducted under the auspices of the Positive Spirit Council at Dubai Police and the General Department of Police Stations, specifically targeted the vibrant community of workers residing in the Ajada area along the Jebel Ali Waterfront and the SK Labor Camp workers’ accommodation complex in Dubai Investments Park. The strategic selection of these venues reflects Dubai Police’s unwavering commitment to engaging people within their own communities and workplaces, fostering a culture of prevention and strengthening the bonds between law enforcement and society.

Strategically timed during Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October, the events encompassed comprehensive specialised lectures devoted to elucidating common online fraud methodologies and emerging cyber threats. Participants acquired invaluable knowledge regarding the identification of fraudulent communications and suspicious digital elements, the prudent protection of personal and financial information, and the imperative of safeguarding passwords and verification codes. Furthermore, attendees were encouraged to report cybercriminal activity through appropriate official channels, thereby contributing to the broader security ecosystem.

The awareness programme extended beyond digital security, encompassing detailed security sessions that addressed crime prevention, community responsibility and the cultivation of cooperative relationships with law enforcement authorities. Traffic safety lectures emphasised the paramount importance of adhering to road regulations, navigating pedestrian crossings with vigilance and adopting responsible behaviours that protect all road users.

The events additionally acquainted participants with Dubai Police’s innovative smart services, public communication channels and procedural pathways for accessing police resources, thereby strengthening community trust and facilitating seamless interaction between citizens and law enforcement.

Fatima Ahmad Bohjair, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council at Dubai Police, articulated the force’s philosophical commitment to proactive crime prevention and community well being. She emphasised that authentic awareness emerges through direct engagement with diverse segments of society, particularly the working population, and that grassroots initiatives addressing the quotidian concerns of residents constitute the foundation of effective community policing.

Bohjair underscored the escalating significance of cybersecurity awareness amid rapid technological advancement and the proliferation of sophisticated fraud methodologies. She noted that the organisation places considerable emphasis on cultivating digital literacy across the community, enabling individuals to recognise cyber threats and respond responsibly, asserting that informed citizens represent the primary defence against cybercriminal activity.

The successful execution of these awareness events reflects the collaborative endeavours of strategic partners and the General Department of Police Stations, demonstrating how coordinated community efforts extend the reach and impact of prevention programmes whilst reinforcing Dubai’s distinguished reputation as a secure and welcoming global destination.
