AccessAbilities Expo Convenes Global Leaders to Advance Inclusive Innovation and Empowerment

The eighth edition of the AccessAbilities Expo has opened at the Dubai World Trade Centre, bringing together nearly 250 exhibitors from approximately 50 countries to showcase transformative assistive technologies and rehabilitation solutions whilst galvanising cross-sector collaboration to establish a comprehensive ecosystem of inclusion for People of Determination.

The eighth edition of the AccessAbilities Expo has commenced at the Dubai World Trade Centre, representing a pivotal convergence of governmental, private sector, academic and social institutions united in their commitment to fostering genuine inclusion and empowering People of Determination across all dimensions of contemporary life. Participants have emphasised that the integration of efforts across these sectors remains essential to establishing a sustainable ecosystem that guarantees equal opportunities and active participation in urban development, educational advancement and cultural enrichment.

This year’s exhibition welcomes nearly 250 exhibitors, brands and rehabilitation centres from approximately 50 nations, many of whom are presenting advanced products and assistive technologies to the Middle Eastern market for the inaugural time. The three-day event will witness the launch of one of the region’s most extensive awareness campaigns, addressing autism spectrum disorder, inclusive education, rehabilitation programmes, home care, the transformative impact of arts and nutritional wellness, alongside other domains that profoundly influence the lives of People of Determination and their families.

The exhibition provides complimentary medical screenings and substantial discounts from participating exhibitors, whilst serving as a platform for the execution of memoranda of understanding, cooperation agreements and distribution arrangements between international and local manufacturers. These partnerships further strengthen the United Arab Emirates’ and Dubai’s standing as global centres of excellence for assistive technologies and rehabilitation services.

Essam Issa Al Humaidan, Attorney-General of Dubai, articulated the profound significance of the event, noting that it transcends mere technological showcase to represent a gathering that translates empowerment into tangible reality. The Dubai Public Prosecution’s participation underscores its commitment to ensuring that People of Determination access justice with dignity and ease.

Dr. Alawi Alsheikh Ali, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, affirmed that the AccessAbilities Expo has established itself as one of the region’s most vital platforms, its continued success reflecting the nation’s progressive humanitarian values and unwavering commitment to this valued segment of society.

Omar Hamad Bu Shehab, Director General of Dubai Land Department, emphasised that participation embodies a commitment to shaping an inclusive real estate future, ensuring seamless access to the built environment and equal opportunities for all. The Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment, participating for the third consecutive year, continues developing housing services responsive to the specific needs and lifestyle aspirations of People of Determination.

Abdullah Al Humaidan, Acting Director General of the Zayed Authority for People of Determination, highlighted the exhibition’s role as an international platform for exchanging expertise, exploring innovative solutions and strengthening partnerships that expand opportunities for vocational rehabilitation and economic empowerment.

The University of Sharjah, through its Disability Resource Centre, provides integrated academic and technical services embodying the institution’s belief that accessibility constitutes a fundamental pillar rather than supplementary service. The Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi advances the Abu Dhabi Strategy for People of Determination through frameworks connecting policies with meaningful participation opportunities.

This year’s innovations include artificial intelligence-powered smart glasses offering real-time translation and visual assistance; advanced bionic prosthetics replicating natural movement; smartphone applications connecting People of Determination with adapted transport services; and voice recognition technologies supporting those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Approximately 1.3 billion People of Determination exist globally, with more than 50 million residing in the Middle East region. Global projections indicate that 3.5 billion individuals will require assistive technologies by 2030, underscoring the exhibition’s significance in advancing solutions that develop skills and strengthen independence.
