Sharjah Animation and Comics Conference Opens with Unprecedented Creative Programming

The fourth edition of SACC 2026 welcomes over 75 international speakers and artists to Aljada for four days of masterclasses, live performances and immersive industry experiences
The fourth Sharjah Animation and Comics Conference opens on Thursday at Aljada, inaugurating a remarkable celebration of creative excellence that unites the worlds of animation, comics, gaming and live performance. Organised by the Sharjah Book Authority, SACC 2026 presents an extraordinary assembly of more than 150 activities spanning four days until October 25th, curated to inspire, educate and entertain professionals and enthusiasts alike.
The conference welcomes over 75 distinguished speakers and creators from more than 30 countries, among them the visionary artists behind some of cinema’s most cherished animated productions. The comprehensive programme encompasses more than 55 specialised workshops and masterclasses, 40 talks and panel discussions, 10 film screenings and three orchestral concerts that celebrate the symphonic dimension of animation and cinema.
Comprehensive Creative Pathways
Two primary tracks guide participants through the animation and comics industries with scholarly depth. The Animation programme traces the complete creative journey from conceptual development and scriptwriting through character design, storyboarding and the full spectrum of production techniques including traditional and digital animation, stop-motion cinematography and motion capture technology. Complementing this, the Comics track offers immersive exploration of drawing, visual narrative, character development and world-building, alongside specialised sessions on the commercial dimensions of publishing, distribution and international collaboration.
The conference presents unprecedented opportunities for direct engagement with established professionals. The Dubbing Corner invites visitors to experience voice acting techniques and contribute their own interpretations to selected scenes, whilst Artist Alley provides local and regional talents with a distinguished platform to present and distribute their creations. A curated Comic Wall showcases vintage and rare collectables assembled in partnership with private collections, and the TCG Zone brings together specialist vendors offering the latest trading card game releases.
Industry and Entertainment Integration
Beyond the educational framework, SACC 2026 orchestrates a sophisticated Business-to-Business Programme designed to forge professional connections and facilitate meaningful partnerships amongst creators, publishers, producers, studio representatives and technology innovators. These structured networking opportunities enable participants to discuss co-productions, refine creative projects and connect Arab talent with international distribution channels.
Gaming devotees encounter dedicated spaces featuring video games, board games and arcade experiences, whilst three esports tournaments in EA Sports FC 27, Tekken 8 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate bring competitive gaming communities together. Three orchestral concerts present beloved compositions from animated films and beloved cinema, offering a celebration of the artistry that accompanies visual storytelling.
The expanded conference strengthens Sharjah’s established position as a thriving centre for creative industry development, fostering collaboration across animation and comics sectors whilst supporting emerging talent in their pursuit of international recognition and commercial success.
