Fujairah Hosts Prestigious West Asia Archery Championship
The Emirate of Fujairah successfully concluded the third edition of the West Asia Archery Championship, welcoming 72 competitors from six nations and reinforcing its position as a premier sporting destination.
The Emirate of Fujairah has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to advancing regional sporting excellence through the successful hosting of the third edition of the West Asia Archery Championship. Held at the distinguished Fujairah Sports and Cultural Club from 17 to 21 October, the championship brought together 72 accomplished male and female archers representing six nations, reflecting the event’s considerable standing within the international archery community.
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, graced the closing ceremony with his presence, underscoring the emirate’s dedication to nurturing sporting endeavour. In his remarks, His Highness illuminated the instrumental role of the sports sector in realising Fujairah’s wider vision, catalysing comprehensive and sustainable growth, and elevating the emirate’s reputation on both regional and international sporting stages. The Crown Prince noted with evident satisfaction the enduring support and commitment of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, toward developing sporting capabilities and enhancing the emirate’s presence at prestigious athletic gatherings.
The championship, meticulously organised by the UAE Archery Federation under the aegis of the West Asia Archery Federation, exemplified Fujairah’s sophisticated organisational prowess and its readiness to host competitions of international calibre. The final day of competition showcased recurve and compound archery disciplines across multiple categories, including under-18, under-21, and over-21 divisions for both men and women, each reflecting the technical excellence and dedication characteristic of contemporary sport.
His Highness observed portions of the concluding competitions and subsequently presented awards to the victorious competitors across the individual categories, recognising their exceptional achievement and commitment. Sheikh Maktoum bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Fujairah Sports and Culture Club, joined in celebrating the championship’s success.
The successful conclusion of this prestigious championship further solidifies Fujairah’s distinguished position as a destination of choice for hosting major regional and international sporting events, a testament to the emirate’s advanced capabilities, sophisticated infrastructure, and cultivation of sporting excellence.
