Dubai Government Launches Comprehensive Employee Wellbeing Initiative

The Dubai Government Human Resources Department has unveiled an ambitious project designed to foster a more supportive and nurturing work environment across the emirate's public sector, bringing together representatives from 47 entities to collaboratively enhance employee experience.
The Dubai Government Human Resources Department has inaugurated the “Enhancing Dubai Government Employee Experience” project, a strategic initiative that brings together representatives from 47 governmental entities to establish a collaborative framework for improving workplace conditions and employee wellbeing across the public sector.
The project represents a comprehensive commitment to addressing the multifaceted needs of government employees, centred upon five fundamental pillars: physical wellbeing, mental wellbeing, social wellbeing, financial wellbeing, and work-life balance. This holistic framework reflects an institutional recognition that employee fulfilment extends across various dimensions of professional and personal life, and that sustainable government performance depends upon cultivating an environment where staff can flourish throughout their careers.
Ahmed Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Director of the Human Resources Information Department at DGHR, emphasised that the initiative represents a pragmatic step towards transforming governmental workplaces. He underscored the indispensable role of entity representatives, who possess intimate understanding of their colleagues’ perspectives and the challenges they navigate daily. By drawing upon their experiential knowledge, these representatives are positioned to identify solutions that genuinely address employee needs whilst fostering broader participation in the Dubai Government Employee Wellbeing Index and emerging financial literacy initiatives.
Iman Saleh bin Khatam, Executive Director of the Policies and Programmes Sector at DGHR, affirmed that enhancing employee experience constitutes a strategic priority essential to strengthening the government human resources ecosystem. She articulated that creating an exceptional workplace environment transcends the development of policies and systems alone, requiring instead a profound understanding of employees’ aspirations coupled with a comprehensive framework that nurtures their wellbeing and inspires innovation.
The inaugural session, attended by 53 participants, introduced participants to the Dubai Government Employee Wellbeing Index, a sophisticated measurement instrument designed to assess wellbeing levels and identify opportunities for targeted improvement. The index functions as a data driven tool to guide initiatives that respond directly to actual employee requirements and aspirations.
Discussions centred upon the Financial Wellbeing Initiative, its implementation roadmap, and strategies to encourage meaningful employee engagement. Sessions addressed the responsibilities of entity representatives in supporting adoption of emerging initiatives, outlined forthcoming implementation phases, and established associated targets for the collaborative endeavour. Interactive dialogue enabled participants to exchange insights and raise questions, strengthening their readiness to champion these developments within their respective organisations.
