Design Week Comes to Marasi Bay

Design Week Comes to Marasi Bay

There exists a particular alchemy when architecture, design and hospitality converge at a single waterfront address. At Marasi Bay, this November, that convergence becomes something altogether more expansive: a gathering of international creative voices brought together through a series of installations, exhibitions and encounters that speak to the way we inhabit, perceive and move through space.

The collaboration between OMNIYAT and The Lana, Dorchester Collection, Dubai, extends across the precinct during Dubai Design Week from 3 to 8 November. Serotonin by Sara Ricciardi unfolds along the Marasi Bay waterfront, an exploration of how design touches the sensory and emotional landscape. Within The Lana itself, Do Not Disturb presents an immersive suite takeover, a collaboration between Sara Ricciardi, WKND Lab and Tellurico Studio that transforms the ordinary hotel space into something altogether more contemplative and unexpected.

Isola Space marks its first anniversary with No Ordinary Things, a celebration of collectible furniture and objects shaped by the hands and minds of craftspeople and designers who prioritise material exploration above all else. Across the bay, Worlds Unseen, conceived by Oliwia Maria Studio in collaboration with Curator Bureau, invites visitors into an imagined landscape where the natural world, memory and human experience converge in new and surprising ways.

What emerges from these simultaneous interventions is not a single statement but a conversation. International designers and curators working alongside local practitioners, each bringing their own sensibilities and preoccupations to bear on the question of how we live, how we rest, how we move through the spaces we inhabit. The waterfront setting adds its own eloquence: the bay becoming not merely a backdrop but an integral part of the dialogue, the light and movement of water framing each intervention in its own particular context.

This is design as encounter rather than declaration, materiality as conversation rather than showmanship. At Marasi Bay during Design Week, the city reveals itself as something more than a backdrop for luxury. It becomes, instead, a canvas for serious creative interrogation.
