Dubai and Colombia deepen commercial ties through chambers partnership

A meeting between Dubai Chambers and the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce signals strengthening economic cooperation, with bilateral trade reaching AED4 billion in 2025 and Colombian business presence in the emirate expanding significantly.

The leadership of Dubai Chambers received a delegation from the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce at its headquarters, marking another chapter in the developing commercial relationship between the emirate and Colombia. The conversation centred on expanding private sector cooperation and identifying new investment pathways that might benefit businesses from both regions.

Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and Chief Executive of Dubai Chambers, spoke of the commitment to deepening ties between the two business communities. The emirate’s position as a strategic global hub for trade and investment, he noted, offered Colombian companies a natural platform for accessing regional and international markets. The discussion underscored Dubai’s established infrastructure, its supportive regulatory framework, and the practical assistance that Dubai Chambers extends to foreign investors navigating the local business environment.

The economic relationship has gathered momentum significantly. Bilateral non-oil trade between Dubai and Colombia reached AED4 billion in 2025, representing year-on-year growth of 97.4 percent. This expansion reflects growing confidence among Colombian enterprises in the opportunities available within the emirate. By the end of 2025, 173 Colombian companies maintained active membership within Dubai Chamber of Commerce, establishing themselves as part of the diverse business ecosystem.

The institutional infrastructure supporting this partnership has expanded accordingly. Dubai International Chamber, one of three chambers operating under the Dubai Chambers umbrella, established a representative office in Bogotá during 2024. The office functions as a bridge between the business communities, offering market intelligence to Colombian companies seeking to establish operations in Dubai whilst simultaneously supporting Dubai-based enterprises exploring the Colombian market. The work includes identifying trade and investment opportunities and facilitating introductions with local partners.

Such bilateral engagement reflects a broader pattern of economic diversification and international partnership development. The emirate continues to position itself as a destination for companies seeking to establish regional headquarters or international operations, with particular emphasis on creating frameworks that enable foreign businesses to operate effectively and access wider market opportunities.
