Deputy Ruler of Sharjah Celebrates Student Achievement at Rubu' Qarn Music Centre

H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi attended evaluation performances showcasing the diverse musical talents nurtured at the centre, from classical instruments to contemporary digital compositions.

The studios of Rubu’ Qarn Music Centre in Mughaidir Suburb resonated with the sounds of young musicians demonstrating their craft, as H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, witnessed performances that reflected months of dedicated study and artistic development.

Operating under the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, the centre’s evaluation performances represent a thoughtful evolution in musical education. Rather than the conventional examination format, these sessions create an integrated experience where assessment merges with genuine artistic expression, allowing students to perform before an audience whilst developing the confidence and resilience essential to musical performance.

The breadth of disciplines on display spoke to the centre’s comprehensive approach to musical instruction. Students presented their accomplishments across ballet, piano, cello, violin, oud, nay and qanun, alongside guitar, Western wind instruments and percussion. The programme encompassed Arabic and Western vocal performances, and notably included musical projects developed through computer-based technology, demonstrating how traditional musicianship intertwines with contemporary creative tools.

H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan honoured the ballet students for their dedication, acknowledging both their technical achievements and the broader artistic vision the foundation cultivates. The centre’s methodology reflects an understanding that musical education extends beyond technical mastery to encompass character development, creativity and the psychological dimensions of performing arts.

The two-day format underscored the variety within the centre’s offerings. An opening musical piece featuring oud, qanun and percussion set the tone, whilst the second day commenced with a ballet performance by younger students, illustrating the integrated artistic ecosystem the centre has developed. This structure demonstrates how assessment becomes a celebration of artistic diversity rather than a purely evaluative exercise.

At the institutional level, the centre has adopted ISO 21001, the international standard for educational management systems, using performance indicators to monitor progress and refine pedagogical approaches. Assessment findings inform the enhancement of teaching methods, creating a continuous cycle of improvement grounded in systematic measurement and genuine engagement with each student’s development.

The initiative forms part of a broader strategic programme for 2026 and 2027, including forthcoming celebrations of the musical family, a talent festival and commemorations of World Music Day. Through these endeavours, the foundation demonstrates its commitment to harnessing artistic education as a vehicle for developing leadership, self-confidence and personal growth in young people.
