UAE and Mauritania strengthen diplomatic ties through foreign affairs dialogue
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his Mauritanian counterpart discuss pathways for deepened bilateral cooperation and regional developments
A substantive discussion between the United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania has reinforced the diplomatic foundations between the two nations. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, engaged in a thoughtful exchange with Dr Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, exploring avenues for enhanced partnership.
The conversation reflected a shared commitment to strengthening the fraternal bonds that characterise the relationship between Abu Dhabi and Nouakchott. Both ministers examined opportunities for cooperation across diverse sectors, each carefully considered to serve the mutual interests and long-term prosperity of their respective nations.
Beyond bilateral matters, the two officials turned their attention to the broader regional landscape, reflecting the responsibility both countries feel towards stability and constructive dialogue in their wider neighbourhood. The discussion encompassed several issues of common concern, positioning both nations as thoughtful participants in regional affairs and as partners committed to collaborative solutions.
Such exchanges exemplify the manner in which the UAE conducts its international relationships: through sustained dialogue, genuine partnership and a recognition that shared values and interests form the bedrock of enduring ties. The call underscores the Emirates’ engagement with nations across Africa and the Islamic world, and its belief that diplomatic channels remain the most productive path to understanding and cooperation.
