A Morning at the Stables: Equestrian Education for Young Riders

A Morning at the Stables: Equestrian Education for Young Riders

There is a particular magic in the early morning air at the stables, when the light falls soft across the paddocks and the horses stand alert, ready for the day ahead. It is into this world that Dhabian Equestrian Club now welcomes young riders each Saturday, offering them far more than a simple riding lesson: an immersion into the complete world of equestrian life.

Following the success of its summer camp programme, the club has distilled that experience into Saturday morning sessions that capture the essence of what draws children to horses in the first place. Here, in Al Rahba, the emphasis extends well beyond the saddle. Young riders aged five through sixteen, regardless of ability, gather in small groups of three to five to learn the craft that surrounds horsemanship: grooming and washing, feeding and horse care, the everyday stable activities that form the foundation of any genuine equestrian education.

Each session runs from eight o’clock until half past ten, a window of time designed to feel unhurried and purposeful. Within that span sits a thirty minute riding lesson, but the experience is woven through with hands-on learning that builds both competence and confidence. Children develop an understanding of horses not as distant creatures to be commanded, but as living beings requiring knowledge, care and respect. It is in this balance that true horsemanship takes root.

The sessions run every Saturday, with spaces kept intentionally limited to ensure each child receives genuine attention and time with the horses. The club welcomes all abilities, recognising that some will arrive with experience while others are discovering their love of horses for the first time. Both are equally valued in this environment.

For families seeking to nurture a child’s passion for equestrian pursuits, or simply to offer them a morning of learning and friendship among these noble animals, Dhabian Equestrian Club offers something both rare and enriching: the chance to spend time in a world where patience, skill and a genuine connection with horses matter deeply.
