National Ambulance Responds to Over 108,000 Emergencies in Nine Months

The Ambulance Communication Centre handled a quarter million calls in the first nine months of 2026, delivering emergency medical care to tens of thousands of patients across the UAE.

The scale of emergency response across the United Arab Emirates continues to demonstrate the nation’s commitment to comprehensive medical care and public safety. In the first nine months of 2026, National Ambulance responded to 108,315 emergency incidents, providing emergency medical care to 87,179 patients. The Ambulance Communication Centre received 260,423 calls during this period, reflecting the breadth and constant demand of emergency services across the country.

These figures underscore the essential work of the organisation, part of the Federal Authority for Ambulance and Civil Defence, which remains ready around the clock to respond to medical emergencies through the ambulance emergency number 998. The integrated emergency response system operates as part of the UAE’s wider commitment to public safety and community welfare.

The readiness maintained by National Ambulance teams reflects years of operational refinement and commitment to excellence. As we reported earlier in the year, National Ambulance retained its JCI accreditation for five consecutive cycles and won a 2026 Global Recognition Award, recognising its standards of care and organisational achievement.

The organisation continues to evolve its capabilities. Recent developments in emergency response technology, including the SANAD multi-mission emergency vehicle, a pioneering off-road platform designed and developed locally, demonstrate the sector’s commitment to reaching patients in challenging environments. Meanwhile, the Federal Authority for Ambulance and Civil Defence has launched an innovative Global Fire Incident Footprint Framework, developed with over 70 international experts, further strengthening the nation’s emergency management capabilities.

What it means for Abu Dhabi

These operational metrics reflect the sustained investment in emergency medical services that protects Abu Dhabi residents and visitors. The response to over 108,000 incidents demonstrates the reliability of the emergency system, which operates seamlessly across the emirate’s diverse urban and rural environments. The readiness and capacity of National Ambulance ensures that medical emergencies are met with rapid, professional care regardless of location or time.

For the community, this means access to round the clock emergency response through a single, trusted contact point. The consistent delivery of care to nearly 90,000 patients over nine months speaks to the quality and coordination of the system, which combines modern technology, trained personnel and integrated planning to keep residents safe.
