UAE and Slovakia forge deeper security ties through specialist joint training

Personnel from six nations converged for a fortnight of intensive tactical preparation, culminating in a simulated real-world exercise that tested the combined readiness of allied rapid response units
The disciplines of modern security demand more than individual excellence. They require an alignment of purpose, a harmony of technique and an understanding that readiness transcends borders. This principle animated a two-week training programme concluded in Slovakia, where the International Security Alliance gathered specialists from six member nations to refine their operational capabilities through shared expertise and coordinated practice.
The programme, organised by the UAE and hosted by the Slovak Republic from October 5 to 16, brought together personnel from elite police and rapid intervention units across the alliance. The curriculum reflected the nuances of contemporary security work: participants refined tactical skills, mastered the deployment of drone technology and studied countermeasures against unmanned systems, honed their marksmanship, and exchanged the accumulated operational wisdom of their respective forces.
The training reached its culmination in a joint exercise that transformed theoretical knowledge into coordinated action. Participants engaged in a simulation of real-world security scenarios, enabling them to apply their newly acquired capabilities within a unified training environment. This integration of learning and practice serves a critical purpose: it builds the confidence and familiarity that distinguishes genuinely interoperable forces from merely compatible ones.
Representatives from the UAE, the Slovak Republic, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Kingdom of Morocco, the Italian Republic and the French Republic participated in the initiative. Their collaboration reflects a shared understanding that security challenges evolve constantly, demanding continuous adaptation and the pooling of institutional knowledge.
The programme forms part of the International Security Alliance’s broader strategy to strengthen international cooperation through specialised training courses, workshops and joint exercises. These structured engagements create pathways for the exchange of knowledge and expertise, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness with which allied nations respond to emerging threats. As we reported earlier, UAE-led Operation Confrontation Ghost has identified over US$39 billion in fraud-linked assets, demonstrating the practical outcomes of enhanced international security coordination.
What it means for Abu Dhabi
This training programme reinforces Abu Dhabi’s position as a convening force for international security cooperation. By organising joint capacity-building initiatives with trusted partners, the UAE deepens its relationships with allied nations and ensures that its own security personnel benefit from exposure to the tactics and experience of other elite units.
The initiative reflects the broader ambition to strengthen the region’s security infrastructure through multilateral engagement. Through programmes such as this, Abu Dhabi contributes to building more resilient and coordinated responses to evolving threats, whilst simultaneously elevating the professional standards of security forces across the alliance.
