The Children’s Biennale: Where Young Hands Shape Creativity

In the heart of Umm Al Emarat Park, a gathering of young artists and natural explorers awaits. The Children’s Biennale unfolds as a series of intimate evenings where curiosity becomes the guide and creativity the language. Here, children move beyond observation into the realm of making, touching, forming and imagining.
The workshops span a luminous range of artistic enquiry. Rock weaving draws young hands into patient, meditative work, teaching pattern and structure through natural stone. Memory making invites reflection and storytelling, transforming recollection into tangible form. Sound exploration opens the ears to vibration and resonance, while clay creatures emerge from children’s fingers, each one a small act of invention. Working with natural materials grounds the experience in the elemental: earth, water, wood and stone become instruments of expression.
What distinguishes these evenings is their spirit of shared discovery. Participating artists join the children not as instructors dispensing knowledge, but as fellow travellers in the creative process. In this gentle companionship, imagination finds permission to unfold. Young minds recognise that art is not a destination but a conversation, not a product but a way of seeing.
The biennale recognises what artists have always known: that the hands of a child, given time and material and permission, become instruments of understanding. Through play and experimentation, through the mess and wonder of making, children connect with something essential about art and nature. They learn that creativity is not reserved for specialists or confined to galleries, but lives in their own capacity to observe, to question, to create.
The Children’s Biennale takes place on 6, 7, 13 and 14 November from 6:30 to 9:30 in the evening at Umm Al Emarat Park, Abu Dhabi.
