The Language of Landscape

READY
Read by Emma, the Simply Abu Dhabi narrator.
There exists a particular art to capturing the essence of a place through colour and form. When you move through The Lana, you encounter an artist’s interpretation of the landscape that surrounds it, a visual conversation between the built environment and the natural world from which it emerged. Daniela Busarello, whose delicate works inhabit the spaces here, draws her vocabulary from the materials beneath our feet and around us: water in its many states, minerals drawn from the earth, and plants that have learnt to flourish in desert conditions.
Her approach is one of restraint and observation. Rather than imposing a vision onto her surroundings, Busarello allows the landscape to speak through her practice. The interplay of colour moves across her canvases with the subtlety of light across sand at dawn. Texture accumulates as if minerals were settling, as if time itself had left marks upon the surface. These are not loud declarations but whispered conversations between artist and place.
The Desert Speaks
What emerges is something beyond decoration. Within the hotel’s thoughtfully composed spaces, we find an artistic reflection of Dubai’s dual character: the vast, contemplative emptiness of the desert alongside the intricate ecosystems that sustain life within it. A single work might hold both the geometry of a mineral formation and the organic sprawl of root systems. Another captures the movement of water, that precious element that has shaped every settlement in this region.
The presence of Busarello’s practice throughout The Lana creates an atmosphere of belonging. We are reminded that we inhabit a landscape with its own profound beauty and character, one that exists independent of human architecture. Yet here, art becomes a bridge between the two. The careful curation of her work alongside the hotel’s design vocabulary suggests not conquest but conversation, not imposition but recognition.
A Quieter Kind of Luxury
This is luxury that knows itself. Not through volume or ostentation, but through an understanding that true refinement lies in the details that matter: in the quality of light on a painted surface, in the thoughtfulness of what surrounds us, in the recognition that sometimes the greatest pleasures come from simply seeing more clearly the world we inhabit. Busarello’s art invites precisely this: a moment of pause, a deeper attention to the natural forms and forces that shape the character of place.
