Crown Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed announces two transformative initiatives designed to simplify travel to Dubai and deepen connections with the city, positioning it among the world's leading tourism destinations.
Innovation and accessibility converge in Dubai’s latest commitment to redefining the visitor experience. H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, has unveiled two initiatives that reflect the emirate’s forward-thinking approach to tourism and its ambition to rank among the world’s top three destinations for business and leisure.
The first is Dubai Access Club, a curated membership programme extending exclusive experiences, services and benefits to invited repeat visitors. Rather than imposing barriers, the programme recognises and rewards those who choose to return, offering them deeper engagement with the city’s attractions, hospitality and economic opportunities. It represents a shift from transactional tourism towards relationship building, encouraging visitors to become ambassadors for Dubai and contributors to its vibrant ecosystem.
The second initiative transforms the practical mechanics of travel. Prospective visitors will soon apply for tourist visas directly through Visit Dubai, the city’s official tourism platform, eliminating the friction of navigating multiple websites and government portals. Single-entry and multiple-entry visas will be accessible through this unified digital channel, with further visa categories planned for future introduction. The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs remains responsible for assessment and issuance, ensuring security and efficiency remain paramount.
Both initiatives, implemented in November 2026, emerge from collaboration between the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs–Dubai, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, and Digital Dubai, working through the Shared Digital Channels Initiative. This framework, established under Crown Prince Hamdan’s governance vision, integrates public and private services across seven unified platforms, harnessing artificial intelligence to anticipate needs and personalise experiences.
Visit Dubai evolves into something more comprehensive: a single gateway where travellers discover attractions, book tickets, explore events, plan itineraries and manage administrative requirements. This integration reflects a sophisticated understanding of the visitor journey, acknowledging that modern travel demands seamless, interconnected service provision rather than fragmented touchpoints.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasised that these steps serve the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, which charts the emirate’s trajectory towards economic diversification and global competitiveness. Tourism, he noted, remains a key pillar of Dubai’s economy, and its growth depends on harnessing technology, fostering innovation and deepening public-private partnerships.
What it means for Abu Dhabi
These initiatives reflect broader regional progress towards digital government excellence and visitor accessibility. As the UAE’s tourism sectors compete globally, advancements in one emirate often establish benchmarks influencing the broader federation’s approach to welcoming international guests and streamlining administration.
The emphasis on digital integration and seamless service delivery aligns with Abu Dhabi’s own commitment to transforming how residents and visitors interact with government and cultural institutions. The principles demonstrated through Dubai’s Shared Digital Channels Initiative, including AI-driven personalisation and unified platforms, offer insights for the wider emirates as they refine their own approaches to digital governance and hospitality.
