ADIB Rights Trading Opens as Bank Pursues Growth Strategy

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank has commenced trading in rights allocated to shareholders as part of its AED1.75 billion capital raise, offering investors the opportunity to acquire additional shares in the lender.

The trading period for Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank’s rights issue began on 4th November 2026, with eligible shareholders now able to buy and sell rights on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange until 16th November. Each right, allocated on the basis of one per 34.14 existing shares held as of 2nd November, entitles its holder to subscribe for one new ADIB share at an issue price of AED16.45.

Rights are trading under the symbol ADIBRI26, with their price determined by market supply and demand. Shareholders who do not wish to exercise their full entitlement may sell rights to other investors, whilst those seeking to increase their stake have the opportunity to purchase additional rights during the trading window. It is important to note that purchasing rights does not automatically result in share subscription; investors must separately apply and pay the issue price for each share they wish to acquire.

The subscription period for new shares runs from 10th November to 24th November 2026. ADIB is acting as the sole receiving bank for the rights issue, with subscription channels including the ADX ePortal, participating ADIB branches, and the ADIB Mobile App for account holders with existing digital banking credentials.

As we reported in October, the bank has maintained robust momentum with profit before tax rising six per cent to AED6.4 billion in the first nine months of 2026, whilst customer financing grew 25 per cent year-on-year. The capital raise forms part of the bank’s strategy to strengthen its financial position and support its expansion ambitions.

Trading in the newly issued shares is expected to commence on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange on 18th December 2026. Shareholders who do not take up their full entitlement will retain their existing shares, though their percentage ownership will be diluted following the issuance of new shares, including where rights are sold rather than exercised.

What it means for Abu Dhabi

This capital raise represents a significant milestone for one of Abu Dhabi’s leading financial institutions, reinforcing the emirate’s position as a centre of Islamic banking excellence. The expansion of ADIB’s equity base supports the bank’s continued investment in serving its growing customer base and underscores confidence in the financial resilience and strategic direction of Abu Dhabi’s banking sector.

For Abu Dhabi shareholders and investors, the rights issue offers an opportunity to participate in the bank’s growth trajectory during a period of substantial expansion in customer financing and profitability. The efficient execution of the capital raise through multiple digital and physical subscription channels reflects ADIB’s commitment to accessibility and modern banking practices.
