Intersec Global Reimagines Security Through Five Interconnected Domains

Intersec Global Reimagines Security Through Five Interconnected Domains

The 28th edition of the Middle East's premier safety and security conference transforms its structure to reflect how modern threats cascade across physical and digital landscapes, uniting government leaders with innovators to build global readiness.

The safety and security landscape has fractured into domains so specialised that those working to protect nations, cities and enterprises often operate in isolation. When a critical infrastructure faces threat, the response cannot afford such fragmentation. This recognition has prompted a fundamental reimagining of how the world’s leading security professionals connect, collaborate and innovate.

Intersec Global 2027, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council, will run from 12 to 14 January at Dubai World Trade Centre. The 28th edition of this definitive gathering introduces a restructured format organised around five interconnected specialist domains: National Security & Law Enforcement, Cybersecurity & Resilience, Surveillance & Physical Security, Fire, Rescue & Emergency Response, and Safety & Wellbeing.

This architectural shift reflects a profound truth about contemporary risk: threats no longer respect the boundaries that once separated sectors. A cyber attack can trigger physical security responses. A natural disaster demands both civil defence and emergency protocols. The new model positions these five domains as interconnected elements of a unified protection ecosystem rather than isolated silos.

The transformation is anchored by an inaugural Global Readiness Summit, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to national resilience, as reflected in the forthcoming UAE Government Annual Meetings. Dishan Isaac, Show Director of Intersec Global at Messe Frankfurt Middle East, explains the philosophy behind this evolution: “Our new interconnected domain model reflects the way risks cascade across physical and digital environments. By bringing public-sector authorities together with innovators developing the next generation of solutions, Intersec Global provides the environment to turn shared challenges into stronger operational readiness.”

The scale of opportunity this addresses is substantial. A GRS Security & Safety Market Outlook Report commissioned by Intersec Global projects the global security and safety market will exceed US$1.48 trillion by 2030, expanding by US$390 billion over the forecast period. This growth reflects both the sophistication of emerging threats and the determination of governments and enterprises to strengthen their protective capabilities.

Dubai’s civil protection leadership embraces this interconnected approach. Lieutenant General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, Commander-in-Chief of the General Command of Dubai Civil Defense, emphasises a philosophy of anticipation: “Dubai’s approach to civil protection is focused on anticipating risk before it becomes an emergency, using data and technology to strengthen preparedness and protect human life.” The Fire, Rescue & Emergency Response domain, he notes, provides civil protection leaders a platform to benchmark protocols and combine predictive capabilities with intelligence-led strategies.

From the regulatory perspective, this interconnectedness strengthens innovation whilst maintaining rigorous standards. Khalifa Ibrahim Alsaleis, CEO of the Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA), observes that “smart regulation can enable innovation while maintaining the standards required to protect communities and infrastructure.” The convergence of AI analytics, proactive intelligence, and integrated security across domains supports the interoperability essential for global collaboration.

Intersec Global 2027 will convene over 1,000 exhibitors, 200 industry speakers, and representatives from more than 150 countries. Italy joins the event as Country Partner for the first time, bringing 12 national exhibitors to a dedicated 240-square-metre pavilion. This inaugural participation reflects the growing recognition that security and resilience challenges are inherently international, requiring expertise and innovation from across the world.

As the risk landscape becomes increasingly interconnected, Nathan Waugh, Portfolio Director of Security, Technology and Production at Messe Frankfurt Middle East, articulates the vision: “Our goal is to go beyond showcasing technology and create an environment where strategic intelligence, capability building, and international collaboration can translate innovation into readiness. Ultimately, Intersec Global is about strengthening the entire protection ecosystem and helping shape a safer, more resilient future.”

What it means for Abu Dhabi

The restructuring of Intersec Global reflects broader developments in how the UAE approaches national readiness. As global energy leaders recently gathered in Abu Dhabi to explore how investment in artificial intelligence and infrastructure can strengthen resilience, the security community is equally recognising that interconnected thinking yields stronger protections. The new domain model positions Abu Dhabi and the UAE as intellectual leaders in integrated safety and security thinking.

For the Emirates’ enterprises, government institutions and security professionals, this evolution creates expanded opportunities for engagement with international best practice and partnership. The convergence of over 150 countries and more than 1,000 exhibitors creates an unprecedented forum for procurement, knowledge exchange and the development of collaborative solutions addressing shared vulnerabilities in an increasingly complex threat environment.
