Zayed Authority for People of Determination takes part in Abu Dhabi book fair

The Zayed Authority for People of Determination is showcasing inclusive reading, assistive technology and cultural programmes at the 35th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, promoting access to knowledge for all.

Authority highlights inclusion, assistive technology and youth creativity

The Zayed Authority for People of Determination is participating in the 35th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair with a pavilion that brings together publications, workshops and interactive experiences designed to broaden access to culture and knowledge.

The Authority said its presence at the fair reflects a conviction that knowledge is a right for everyone and that empowerment extends beyond services to creating platforms where people of determination can read, create and contribute to public life. Its programme combines assistive technology demonstrations, specialised publications and practical workshops that showcase the skills and creativity of participants.

Among the initiatives on show is the ‘Ibtisam’ project, presented in partnership with Lotus Holistic Centre, and the launch of the ‘Emirati Dictionary of Psychology’, produced jointly with the Emirates Researchers Centre and the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre. The pavilion also displays a collection of student works from Sheikh Zayed Private Academy for Girls, while employees of the Authority have dedicated space for their own publications and creative output.

The Authority’s Department of Care for the Blind is staging a focused programme on assistive technology and digital reading. Visitors can experience smart applications and tools intended to increase independence for people who are blind, and take part in the workshop ‘Braille… From Dots to Words’. Reading sessions for children who are blind are being held in collaboration with Al Hudhud Publishing and Distribution House.

Complementary sessions include an interactive educational talk titled ‘Why Do We Lose Motivation?’ and activities that bring together families, youth and partners to explore inclusive learning methods. The Zayed Authority Youth Council is contributing a session called ‘We Read Differently… and Learn Together’.

During the fair the Authority will sign two memoranda of understanding, one with the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre and another with Sheikh Zayed Private Academy for Girls, intended to deepen cultural, educational and knowledge-based cooperation that supports empowerment of people of determination.

The Authority’s participation builds on a continuing presence at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, following earlier initiatives such as ‘Creative Hands Read’ and prior Braille publications. This year’s programme aligns with the UAE’s wider cultural goals and the Year of Family 2026, emphasising inclusive access to literature and learning for all members of the community.
