Etihad unveils Beyond Borders and new A330neo cabins

Etihad Airways has revealed its ‘Beyond Borders’ guest experience and a new Airbus A330 three‑class cabin at Arabian Travel Market, part of a wider US$20 billion investment in aircraft and customer experience.

Overview

Etihad Airways, the UAE national carrier based in Abu Dhabi, has unveiled its next evolution of the guest journey under the banner Beyond Borders. The airline presented an all‑new cabin for its Airbus A330 at Arabian Travel Market, and confirmed the Beyond Borders look and feel will be extended across the A321LR and other parts of its fleet and premium spaces.

Cabin layout and passenger features

The A330 will enter service from September 2027, with 15 examples joining Etihad’s fleet over five years to support regional and medium‑haul routes across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The three‑class configuration brings First, Business and Economy to markets where demand for premium travel and flexibility is rising.

At the front are four First suites with closing doors, space for a companion to dine or socialise, a 32‑inch screen, wireless charging, dedicated stowage and a personal powder station stocked with premium amenities that guests can use in flight and take away afterwards. The Business cabin contains 24 forward‑facing, fully lie‑flat seats with direct aisle access and sliding doors. Each Business seat has a 17.3‑inch screen, wired and wireless charging, a large table and personal stowage. Economy offers 252 seats in a calm cabin environment with a bespoke fixed‑wing headrest, 13.3‑inch 4K touchscreens and personal charging. A 32‑seat Extra Legroom section provides four inches of additional pitch.

Network role and rollout

The A330 is intended to give Etihad greater flexibility on high‑demand routes where a full premium offering—including First—is a deciding factor for travellers. Etihad also confirmed it will extend the Beyond Borders aesthetic and service approach to its A321LR fleet, which has already pioneered First suites and fully lie‑flat Business on a single‑aisle aircraft and drawn strong guest preference.

Investment and strategy

Etihad said the new product forms part of a US$20 billion programme of new aircraft and customer experience investment, including a US$1 billion fleet retrofit programme. Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, described Beyond Borders as visible “in the moments that matter most to our guests”, and said the initiative encompasses cabins, lounges, dining, wellbeing, connectivity and ground services.

Their announcement at Arabian Travel Market sets out a phased rollout of the new cabin and a wider customer proposition aimed at creating a more consistent Etihad journey both on the ground and in the air.
