Formula 1 confirms 2027 calendar with Abu Dhabi hosting the finale

The FIA and Formula One Management have approved a 24-race 2027 season across five continents, expanding Sprint events to ten and concluding with Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile and Formula One Management have published the 2027 FIA Formula One World Championship calendar following approval by the World Motor Sport Council. The season will comprise 24 Grands Prix in 22 countries and an expanded Sprint programme of ten events.

Pre‑season testing is scheduled in Bahrain from 24 to 27 February, with the Championship beginning at the Bahrain Grand Prix and immediately moving on to Saudi Arabia. The itinerary then heads to the Asia‑Pacific region with visits to Australia, Japan and China before returning to North America for the Miami and Canadian Grands Prix.

The European portion of the calendar includes Monaco followed by a return to Portugal in June. Türkiye rejoins the championship in October, positioned between the Azerbaijan and Singapore rounds.

The closing phase of the season features the North American stretch in Austin, Mexico City and São Paulo, followed by the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The final two rounds will be held in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, with Abu Dhabi confirmed as the season‑ending host.

Formula 1 has increased the number of Sprint events from six to ten for 2027 to deliver additional on‑track action. Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Monaco and Abu Dhabi will host Sprint races for the first time. Sprint events will also return to Montréal, Silverstone, Monza, São Paulo and Lusail.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the FIA, described the calendar as “a strong reflection of the global appeal and continued growth of our sport,” noting the balance between tradition and innovation. Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, said the schedule brings together “some of the most iconic circuits and vibrant cities in the world,” and welcomed the expanded Sprint programme.

The 2027 itinerary underscores Formula 1’s continued international expansion while aiming for a more efficient geographical flow of events. For Abu Dhabi, securing the finale maintains the emirate’s role as a prominent host on the global motorsport stage and assures local fans another high‑profile climax to the F1 season.
